The Suns can't do this because there is a limit to how much of your team's salary can be 'dead salary'. The Suns would exceed that threshold if they bought out and stretched Beal, unless he takes a paycut.

Buying and stretching Beal is the dumbest thing the Suns can do anyway, he expires in two years. Take the short terms suffering, and the team would have a ton of capspace in the '27 offseason.

Suns can stretch $97m over 5 years. So Beal just needs to take a $13-14m haircut. Money he'd likely make up using TaxMLE. Similar to Ayton, actually Beal would give up less than Ayton just did.

Stretching saves Suns a ton of tax, more than they will accumulate with Beals dead cap over 5 years.

Suns aren't expecting to be in the free agency race either, they save tax and increase flexibility for trades this season and next.

You think Beal seems like the kind of guy willing to take a $14 mil paycut when he doesn't have to?

If he has an offer from Miami, he'll do it...

He wasnt a problem at all but for the injuries. He was our best guard defender, he was in a terrible system that had no identity and still his percentages as far as production did not drop. Only thing different was his touches.

Denver ??
Spurs on the cheap?

What's he going to get??

Edit: Does this mean the no trade clause gets waived as well?
Yes because it's tied to this contract and he'd be getting waived/bought out of that specific contract.

If he cares about winning (not just sunshine), I don't understand how this isn't the Bucks. They desperately need a skill guard and they're in the much weaker conference. Denver makes no sense to me.

I think he signs in Miami because sunshine though.

colossal mistake

Booker has been fool’s gold.

We should have tried to move all of them. At $70m per year Booker is definitely fools gold. Dude is a decent 2nd option but getting paid #1 player in the league money. But Ishbia is an absolute moron so I have little hope he will make good decisions about anything while he owns the team. Maybe after 10 years he'll wisen up like Sarver started to. Doubt it though, this dude has a gigantic grandiose narcissistic personality just like our president. "Every team would trade our roster for theirs." Guy is so damn clueless.

Does anyone think that Beal can be anything other than a #3 option AT BEST on a legitimate contender?

If he gets bought out there’s no good reason not to go to the Warriors.

the point is getting that loser bitch out of the locker room :D

Except they would be paying for that “loser bitch” for many years and hurting their rebuilding process.

Depends on who the #1 option is and of course who the other players are. Beal can be your #2 scorer but not your second best impact player.

Why not Denver if cares only about winning coming off the bench and possibly winning a chip would make sense. Him on Denver is a better chance of winning it all than on the Bucks

Wasn’t there rumour that Denver was one of the teams that Besl would go to in a trade. I thought I read it somewhere. If so look for Denver as a landing spot

East is wide open. The west still belongs OKC unfortunately. I know the nuggets took them to 7 games, but the Thunder are only gonna get better.

The Nuggets aren’t? The added more depth and with Beal they would be even better. Add in Cam I think the starting will fit in better with Cam than MPJ giving his off ball movement he brings. He also has a high basketball IQ reads the game better than MPJ. So Denver had the better starting 5 than the Thunder now the starting five improved the bench will be even deeper with Beal if he signs.

Does Denver even promising him a starting job? I mean, between Christian Braun and Beal, there’s a legitimate question on which you start. I mean, Braun is coming off a 58% shooting season. Sure, it likely isn’t sustainable to be THAT high, but do you bench a legitimately good 3 and D player like that for Beal even?

I cant see a better option than the Bucks if he wants to play a decent sized role on a contending team.

I believe Beal and Lillard will sign 2 year deals with the Heat. Just makes way too much sense from a non basketball perspective.

Doesn't REALLY solve their problems unless he starts driving like it's 2023 again. He's been injured and is small and aging, so his consistency with on-ball sets has been a little up in the air. Scores pretty well after taking a screen, but isn't hot in isolation. Has been declining in his ability to get to the rim, has dropped off REMARKABLY the past two years at getting to the line...

So which Beal are you getting?

2023 Beal would be useful to Denver, even if he would exacerbate their defensive issues. He could move a defense with dribble penetration more so than someone like Murray.

But 2024 and 2025 Beal has been a LOT less interesting. Is that because he was having trouble clicking in Phoenix? Are you gonna get more than 53 games out of him? Will the injuries continue to undercut his efficacy?

If he's signing for the vet min or whatever, rock-on. That's about as dangerous a signing as was Westbrook, so it's probably worthwhile. But there are just as many questions with him as there were with Westie.

Same guy who was adamant in saying Beal would be gone before season started. That was at the time of the Durant trade.
