Ngl, I used to get fooled by SI clickbait because I thought it was still reputable. I refuse to click on any SI articles.

I will probably do the same for Yahoo Sports as well because I thought they were more credible.

Explained this above but this isn't actually 'Yahoo' or a Yahoo reporter--it's by a freelance writer (i.e. not employed full time by anyone) who wrote it for the Sporting News, and he tells you he's just paraphrasing some little puff piece written by someone posting on Bleacher Report. It's on Yahoo's page for some reason but this isn't Yahoo's reporting or anything like that.

Basically every reporter who's a real reporter won't do stuff like this, even if he's at some tiny local website in a town of 2000 people. But you have to look at what you're reading, every non-scam website will tell you if it's meant to be taken as real news or reporting or if it's just trash bait.

This is a Sporting News article written by Caleb Hightower. Yahoo puts stuff in your news feed that they think you'll be interested in based on previous clicks etc.

Someone posted this other Caleb Hightower nonsense on RGM the other day, and I clicked on it and now I'm getting Caleb Hightower nonsense all over my Yahoo feed as well.

https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2467416&hilit

I have no point here other than saying this nonsense is from Caleb Hightower of Sporting News, not Yahoo Sports. And we should maybe stop clicking on it and encouraging them lol.

No, it would not be. :D

Giannis in PAO, Jokic in PAOK and PAOK winning would be my preferred option. :D

Ok, i get it, Партизан and PAOK have a real bond and i respect A LOT both of those teams, but show sympathy to PAO too, don't forget we have also something that unites us (I mean, the GOAT Željko) :D

And Bodiroga, of course. :D He's a Partizan fan as well.

It’s funny how dismissive the fanbase is of rumors about big markets.

Let some twitter account with 4 followers say Giannis wants to play for the Lakers though.

The Lakers have a problem

-They don't have many assets in terms of young players with potential or valuable first-round picks to improve the roster

-They got lucky with Ayton - he might have a solid season since he's playing for a new contract. But it could also go horribly wrong with him and JJ Redick

-LeBron is probably gone next summer, which opens up some cap space. But they'll still need to re-sign Austin Reaves before they can make major moves. Landing a high-caliber free agent while also adding solid role players will be tough

-The Lakers are in a similar spot to where the Mavs were when they kept struggling to get out of the first round. Nico Harrison managed to flip assets, turning KP into Kyrie, then adding Gafford and PJ Washington, drafting Lively, and building from there. But that takes time.

It will take the Lakers 2-3 years to build a team that is good enough to make the finals. If things spiral out of control, Luka might just say "f it" and ask out.

Luka will be pushing 30 by then.

No doubt he would be happy to go there. All Panathinaikos needs to come up is 250 million.

How many hundreds of millions do you think it takes to retire with generational wealth in Slovenia?

More, or less than in LA?

That's very subjective. But average net salary in Slovenia in 2025 is 1.600,77 EUR... now do the math with how much he already has :D

You guys have wet dreams of Luka. Well guess what, he's a Laker. And will be a Laker. He will have his jersey retired here fast forward 15 years. Time to wake up accept reality.

I agree this is less than likely but it's still funny that Denver owns LA when it comes to basketball over the past 5 years despite this fact.

We will see. Luka changes things.

The last game these two played Lakers went into Denver and obliterated them. Used the same scheme OKC did by trapping Jokic. Maybe OKC stole the gameplan from JJ, who knows. But Luka had a field day. Zero defense on him. I think those days of Denver having the Lakers numbers are coming to an end.

Interesting. So would you guess making as many hundreds of millions of dollars as possible would be more, or less, of a contract incentive for a Slovenian national who will most likely retire to and live in Slovenia after his playing career is done?

Way less. Ten plus million could start a smaller succesfull buisness but it would be up to the later generations to keep it going. A hundred million could start several medium ones or one big one that should be pretty hard to **** up.

And the nuggets haven't owned the Lakers for the last five years. Lakers beat them in 20'. Lakers got bounced by the suns in 21' and by the wolves this year.

Fascinating. I wonder if its possible people who live in a country where cost of living is extraordinarily higher than where a Slovenian national will retire and live out his days, may project on him a higher premium on extracting every cent from a contract that will provide minuscule if any difference in lifestyle for him and his family's future generations.

Im not sure what you were trying to say but yes the cost of living and purchasing power plays a major role when deciding where to work, even for star players.

Intriguing. In that case, is it possible making as much money as humanly possible may not be the ultimate deciding factor for a player in choosing a team, if where he'll retire is somwhere that cost of living is a fraction of where it does here?

Yeah, its certainly possible. But lets not forget that these guys are being payed serious money to play a game most of us love to play in free time. And they are being worshiped by other people for doing so. They are living the life.

It would take someone that really hates basketball or the media to quit such an opportunity.
