I wonder if just a full MLE deal would be enough.

Happy 4th yall, first real Giddey negotiation update I’ve seen, from Cowley. He wants the 30M/yr Suggs deal, Bulls not budging yet.

Wow a $5M one year deal with Magic for Mo Wagner. I feel like that might be good comp for Vuc in a buyout scenario.

Suggs getting 30M is preposterous by the way

It’s an interesting scenario. Jake Fischer was speculating about this recently. If Billy wants to keep using Giddey as a point forward with a 3 guard line-up, Grimes would be a better fit than Huerter. He’s a 3&D SG but showed some flashes of being able to handle a bigger offensive role on a depleted Sixers team. The problem is that I think the Sixers will match anything up to the MLE, so we’d have to give up something of substance to get Morey to trade him. He also reportedly wants $25m a year.

Issue is making an offer large enough that Philly won't match. So you're going to have to overpay a bit.

Its effing brutal. And it will bite them in the ass soon with Franz/Paulo/Bane all making major dough. This CBA you have to be very effecient in how you pay your non-core players.

As for Giddey, i would only go up to 30 mill per if that includes performance incentives.

ESPN (or someone) reported the average starting PG salary was $38M, not superstar, average. Anfernee Simons is one of the cheapest starting PGs in the league at $26M. FVV & Trae are at $43M. Lamelo is at $36M. Devin Vassell is at $29M.

That’s fine. Most must be overpaid like IQ then.

Simons has never been a PG. He’s a chucking shooter.

FVV was crazy overpaid to get him there. He just resigned for 25M.

Trae at 43 is bad with that D.

lol horrific asset management if we just wind up buying out Vuc. But if he can get 10-15m from another team and save us some cash, maybe we’ll actually use our TPE or MLE to get a useful player.

IMO the average is a bad metric because on the one hand you have elite scoring PG's, most of whom make more. Then you have the guys like who got paid on potential like Suggs, IQ, and Simons...most of whom get less. I put Giddey in this camp.

Only thing that was bad was extending him. Best season to trade him he had one of worst seasons of his career.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

The Nuggets reportedly get access to the full $14m MLE if Valunciunas goes to Greece. The Warriors have the 5.7m TMLE. Not sure what other contender could use Vuc.

If Valanciunas ends up leaving and Vuc bought out, Vuc will 99.9% end up in Denver, IMO.

I doubt he gets the full MLE from them, they'll probably split it between 2 players.
