Do they see him as a 3/4 or potentially more of just a 4 who could maybe play some small ball 5 in very limited doses?

Maybe just a winner you try to get on the court.

Weltman sees Penda as a "a first-round caliber defender who happens to be available at 32". I suspect they see him as a scalable defender 2-4 with connective IQ and a winning resume. Needs to work on shot consistency, handle vs pressure, and functional strength (too heavy???).

He's my kind of role player.

It looks like his contract is the following due to Bobby Marks post,

Year 1: 1.27M
Year 2: 2.15M
Year 3: 2.52M (Team)
Year 4: 2.73M (Team)
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

I want to see how he compares to TDS. I think Penda and TDS will compete for minutes.

I wanna see if he has what it takes to survive in this league. 6'7/6'8 ground bound PF/C arent exactly a success story in thrle league.

Im hopeful but not expecting much.

Toumani Camara has done alright. Camara was 23.5 years old his rookie season.

So did Draymond....

Now how many no names did we miss who busted out of the league?

I'd love to see some kind of creative small-ball lineup if this kid hits the ground running. I think he's much more of a threat to Isaac and even Goga's longevity with the team than someone like TdS, who seems to be a much more finessed, offensively skilled player. I also think TdS can cover minutes at SG, so they could very well complement each other more than replace.

BBIQ in a man-body makes the possibility of contributing early much more plausible.

Ideally, Penda is the JI replacement and that Noah and Tristan play together.

he doesnt need to be a star. if he gives solid 15-20 mpg, thats a win. And before anyone is preparing to jump on me, i dont expect that in the rookie year.

In a perfect world, TDS is a long-term 3 who can play some 4 and Penda is a long-term 4 who can play some 5.

And ideally they are able to share the floor off the bench.

I think Penda and TDS are both 3/4 and will compete for minutes. Penda could play forward with Paolo or Franz. I guess maybe he could play backup center like AG does. Penda and AG are similar in size.

Penda's best trait to me right now is guarding the perimeter, so I hope he will start off mostly playing wing. Moves his feet well and has very quick reactions. Also reminds me of AB in that they both are just very good at getting a hand up and bothering jumpshots. Hopefully that translates against NBA athleticism. Could definitely see him transitioning to primarily a 4/5 as he ages.

If he looks ready I hope they try some lineups with like Suggs/Bane/Franz/Penda/Paolo where it is just like nearly totally positionless and everyone knows how to pass the ball. I want to see so much experimentation by Mose, but I am not holding my breath.

Main thing for him assuming the defense translates is getting his shot right (obviously). It becomes flat at times and is really inconsistent, but it doesn't look too bad to me. If he can hit 33+% from 3 I think he can be a role player right now.

I see him almost like a re-roll on Okeke and hoping it turns out better. Below-the-rim forward with a diverse skill set. Okeke couldn't finish in the paint at the NBA level, and then his outside shot completely cratered, and that was the end for him. But I like how Penda seems able to just absorb contact as he goes up around the rim. He's not dunking on people but he can go into a defender and finish through the contest with his strength. We'll see how his outside shot comes along, but I'm very optimistic he can be a real player, I like him a lot.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Agree. Any SRP.. heck any player in the 20s that can give you 20mpg a game is already worth it.

Chuma's standing reach was 8'7", and Penda's in 8'10.5". Penda is better suited to play the 4 than Chuma was.

I wanna see Penda play against regular rotation NBA guys not just SL...

He moves well in the Euro-leagues but I wanna convince he can keep up with say... the Tobias Harris , Aaron Gordon , Randle type of players first. Not all-stars but perimeter to paint big men.

Harris only has an 8'7.5" standing reach, and Gordon has an 8'9" standing reach. Penda will appear to be bigger than them.

Its not about being bigger. Im talking about those PF-types that can take the ball to the hoop and see if Penda can slow them down cuz he supposedly has the speed to do so.
