plus its not like he is getting a haircut in salary.

reported 13 mil euro for 3 years. apx 15 mil usd
and thats after taxes.

vs nba 10.4 mil this year + $10 mil non guaranteed next year + lets say 1 more year at $5mil

after taxes he probably makes less than what he makes in euro league
and only has to play 50ish games total in all competitions in euro league vs 100+ in nba with denver

Not to mention cost of living in Greece vs Denver is way less.

Another big factor is the recent decline in the U.S. dollar v.s. the Euro. Jonas is probably used to thinking of his salary in terms of Euros, in the past 6 months he's gone from a 2025-26 salary of around $10M Euros per year to a salary of $8.8M Euros. The exchange rate will likely only get worse with Trump doing everything he can to further devalue the U.S. dollar compared to international currencies, something to consider when looking at the NBA's ability to retain talent from overseas.

They really gonna run Lavine and DeMar back? On top of all that they are in the west. Just throw away the whole franchise.

Posters here cried about Whitmore lol
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Wizards making good fringe margin moves.

I’d take Whitmore over virtually over all of our young prospects outside of CMB and maybe Ja’Kobe.

I'd guarantee he would. He is a much more intriguing piece than Whitmore is.

Low efficiency chuckers like Whitmore who are allergic to passing the ball are not valued in the NBA. Whitmore was on a good team and showed no ability to fit into a team system.

That’s odd. Whitmore has always been more efficient than Gradey. Whether that’s in a small role or when he’s a starter.

Every single advanced data chart points to Whitmore being significantly more impactful than Gradey.

By all accounts, Gradey is the bigger “chucker”, less efficient and is easily the worst defender of the 2.

Raptors could use Goga and let him/Mamu battle for the backup C spot. He'd also be a great injury insurance for Poeltl where the team doesnt completely tank the season if he gets hurt.

he makes slightly more than Ochai this year, but could trading Ochai for Goga make some sense to help balance things out? Mamu and Goga also start on their national team together at PF/C.

I'm too high on Ochai to do that, i would go get him if the price is really cheap. Hes been waived a few times. Just wish this front office was good identifying free agents as they are draftable players.

And it's never mentioned, but Goga was left out of the rotation come playoff time.

Played 4 mins in the play-in vs Hawks
Played 8, 2, and 1 minutes vs Boston

And that's with M.Wagner out.

Outside of gradey the rest of our remaining prospects would be guys he was drafted ahead of, and he's not better than GD either.
If they both have the same flaws & similar strengths, gimmie the taller player with less attitude question marks and better ball iQ

Thats a bargain for Wizards. Easily worth that cost. Not sure about Whitmore's attitude but he can score.

Whitmore is an ISO type player who doesn't pass and chucks up low quality shots. Cam has been on a good team and was completely nuked from the rotation by a good coach and traded for nothing. Dick is an off-ball type player who has been thrusted onto bad teams and asked to do a lot more than he should be asked to do.

AND YET - Dick averages 2.1APG to 13.8FGA (per 36) as an off-ball guy. Whitmore averages 1.7APG to 18.3FGA (per 36) as an on-ball guy. So somehow, despite barely initiating offense compared to Whitmore, Dick still somehow gets more APG despite being on a much worse roster.

I am not even a big Dick fan. I don't see his defense ever developing to an acceptable starter level. But Whit is on another level of useless. He has shown nothing to suggest he has any interest in playing a team game, and he is no where near the scorer he thinks he is to justify taking 10 shots for every assist he gets. You can squint and see a world where Dick ends up on a good team and scales down to just being a really good off-ball shooter in that role. I am not quite sure what role Whitmore will ever fit, unless he suddenly becomes good at something, cause currently he is good at nothing.

.. can he?

he can certainly put shots up. But he has not shown to actually be good at it.

Yeah this is a good bit of business for the Wizards. This is how rebuilding teams should be operating. Take a low cost flyer on Whitemore who has a ton of potential and if doesn’t work out you can always move him. The thing with Whitmore is that he’s just buried behind better players and a coach that isnt going to develop him.
