For the record, I would like to see him start the season with us. I want to see what he looks like. There's always the deadline if we need to get off him.

I'm secretly hoping Brad is playing some 4d chess here. Despite the media reports, maybe his first choice would be to extend Simons but only if it was real cheap.

You would probably do better for Simons in a trade at the deadline. There will be injuries, and some playoff hopefuls may be in dire need of scoring when the middle of February rolls around. Even so, I'd rather dump him ASAP. I believe that Davison is now good enough to be the third guard. Also, there is the chance now to dump Simons into capspace without taking much salary back.

It would have been a simpler off season had they traded Jaylen Brown and left the rest of the roster intact.

The hard job is done, saving close to 30 million in Jru (5million and 2 additional years) and Porzingis trade (22million) to get under 2nd apron.

Simmons imo stays or is traded for C. No need and no reason to try to go under 1st apron.

If Simmons does a 3 year $60 deal the it is a yes. But I doubt he will go that cheap. I would say this slot# is $20M right now, and then no center unless other moves.

Right now with no other moves, and we let Simons and Niang walk, the roster stands at $205M for 2026-27 with a projected second apron of $222m.

That is $17M. They would have to get rid of one Hauser, or White to acquire this big.

Could they go over second apron after one year under it? Sure, i guess. But it better be worth it.

Houston got two players for a dude who can't play. Very unimpressed

With Tatum, Brown, White, Hauser, Pritchard, Gonzalez, Scheierman, Queta, Walsh, Garza and Minot under contract in 26-27 the Celtics have 180.6 million committed to 11 guys, not 205 million.

I think you forgot to remove either Holiday or Simons salary.

FROM SHAMS:

The Memphis Grizzlies are trading center Jay Huff to the Indiana Pacers for one second-round pick and one second-round pick swap, sources tell ESPN.

Ties in nicely with my previous post.

DARKO trajectory projects Neemi and luka Garza on a better path than either Londale or Huff
not that DARKO is a be-all but as a datapoint, this is what is says

As a proponent of a Simons for Vucevic trade, I would like to end the year with Queta and Garza taking the center minutes if Tatum does not make a return.

It'd be very challenging to root for an attention-seeking clownid like this.

Garza has the ability to be a quality big providing some scoring off the bench, which I'm excited about. I am relieved that he won't be a starter with his defensive shortcomings.
