Ace just cant get a step on anyone. Mediocre handles for a wing and not really big enough to easily shoot over SF's in the NBA like he was at the college level. He probably did Philly a favour by snubbing them

I see Edgecombe filling up the stat sheet this year. 12/4/3/1.5/0.5. Exciting player and a good fit in Philly.

One summer league game you people will never ever learn your lesson. Maybe hold off on The hot takes

Utah gonna fire their new scouts at the end of the year if Bailey doesn’t produce.
There’s a good chance CMB becomes a better overall player

That was the criticism all throughout college, not after a summer league game.
He would have been in contention for #2 otherwise

The point still went over your head. Making that statement is insanely foolish and amateur. It’s one game. Evaluate him after all of Summer League. That’s a childish take.

Im evaluating him on a full college season and 1 summer league game. He wasnt able to get a step on people the entire last year either. Since the measurements came out, Ace was done with as a top tier prospect. I had hope for him if he was Tatum size, but at 6'7, he's not quick enough, doesnt have the handles or functional athleticism to be a strong offensive talent in this league. I'd be impressed if he became a Cam Johnson

I wouldn’t even evaluate him after Summer League. I think we need to evaluate these guys in a more organized, team-oriented setting. So many bad players have gone off in Summer League while so many good players struggled.

I know it's early but my fav player after Cooper was VJ out of the bunch. Hopefully our guys end up being one of the top players in this draft for us.

You guys need to learn. Summer league means nothing. Great start by Edgecomb but doesn’t mean it translates to the season.

If one of our young players dominate every game and look like the clear best player on the floor then we should be excited

Ill invite you to look st the hot takes of ochai obaji during summer league last year. He was apparently trash based on sl and 2 years of actual nba experience. It doesnt play. Hold off on the hot takes i assure you, they are premature

Evaluating after all of summer league is also insanely foolish and amateur. Many players did poorly all throughout summer league and went on to have solid careers and vice versa. Look at Ochai last year. Not sure why you would go against your own advice.
Seems like my point went over your head. Which new criticism of Ace has emerged after one Summer League game? There is no hot take here. If you were to say the same thing about Cooper Flagg after one summer league game, then you may have a point, but nothing new is being evaluated with Ace.

There is likely a general trend of summer league performance in relation to NBA potential (e.g. our bench mob did really well from what I remember), but the correlation is probably not extremely strong.
If you add context into the equation, there is probably something there to analyze.

I mean, we can only go off of what we have... and then amend that opinion as we learn more, no?
I generally think summer league is a waste of time. It seems to serve four purposes.
1. A chance for rooks to get their feet underneath them so that they don’t come into training camp and much everyone else up.
2. Maybe, just maybe, provide a few reps for a player to work on developing a specific skill such as three ball. But how much benefit does a handful of games provide?
3. Evaluate an undrafted free agent, but my guess is that most of that is done behind the scenes in training and not in the circus-like games of summer league.
4. Provide an excuse for NBA and basketball people in general to gather in Vegas (and other places, but mostly Vegas) to talk shop.
Yeah, I mean, there is only so much you can draw from a SL game. Some guys dominate it and are absolute tossers once the season start. Some guys need a more crisply-defined role and a lead player off of whom to run their game, so they look like ass in the SL but figure it out in the RS.

I only saw glimpses of the 76ers game, but from what I saw and the box score VJ Edgecombe was very impressive. My one knock on him was his ability to score in the half court against set defenses and he made it look like a strength.

Summer league and set defense is a bit of oxymoron. These guys had a few days only to learn the defense.

I'm hoping we start to see something from Chomche. If he flames out, it will be far too easy for people to refer to him as Ulrich Chumpchange.
I see him as a Clint Capela prototype. Its not like its a very difficult role for him. He's got the hyper activity length and athletisism. Hes just got to learn how to play basketball and how not to get into foul trouble. Then if he can knock down his free throws and have a bit of touch finishing around the rim its a major plus.
