since we like over reacting over summer league, bad start by Kasparas Jakucionis and terrible night for Knecht

VJ was impressive but the Hornets never had a shot at him. Blame the lottery balls for that.

Shouldn't lose sleep about passing on Ace though.

Clayton looked composed but then again he was a 22 yo senior coming out of college. He should be more refined than the others.

nah I'm going to blame Ace for us not getting VJ. He was meant to go to Philly and wow them with his shot making and athleticism securing the 3rd pick.
then VJ would fall to us, but instead he refused to go. so im going to be petty and blame him

Yeah SL is a fun, interesting exercise. I watched the Jazz game. VJ is SO quick. Was a good debut for him; he showed his strengths and weaknesses out of the gate. His 3 point shot is weak and will be challenged far more at NBA level. He took too many forced shots, same as college. Dribbled into no man’s land and just took it one on three, or jacked a tough shot. But he was so fast, good handle, tough defense, made some good shots and passes.

Ace had flashes but his warts were very obvious as well. He’s really a project player despite his talent rating. Can coaches get him to his high potential? It will be a battle for them and for Ace. He oozes possibilities, just unsure how it will, play out.

Best player on the court may have been old Filo. He’s added strength, fine tuned his shooting stroke, looks good. He still makes some errant decisions defensively and is not a super shot blocker, but his passing and vision/IQ are top notch. Plays with passion.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'm tired of these kind of project players. Thank God we didn't draft Ace. Not a fan of him since the beginning. VJ is my guy, but Kon isn't a bad choice compare to Ace

Gonna do my best to try not to overreact to the summer league, especially one game... First impressions are exactly that. Doesn't mean they are correct or can't change over time. First chance I'm really getting it long look at these guys in a full game setting.

Nothing about tonight really changed my opinions on the draft. If the Hornets made a mistake in the draft, It's probably that they didn't try hard enough to move up to number three. Nothing I saw tonight really changed my opinions on passing on Ace. He just reminds me so much of a higher ceiling Kelly oubre. Obviously there's a lot to like there underneath the bad Shot selection. Funny thing about this Utah team, ace is going to find out that there's five other dudes on that team that have the greenest of lights in their heads.

VJ to me looked like the best player on the floor except for Filipowski going white hot there towards the end. If he gets his handle improved it could be a huge difference in his ceiling.

really looking forward to see how tre looks. he was my 2nd choice behind vj.

But it's one game and it's summer league and it doesn't matter. But first impressions have to start somewhere.

I was impressed by vj. He showed exactly why I was so high on him. First impressions like people have said are important and he certainly made one and showed exactly while I was dialed in on him the entire draft process. I really wish we would have gone all out to move up one spot. Ace looked the opposite of how vj looked. Not in his element.

It's literally 1 summer league game.

It’s actually 35+ college games

I preferred VJ, too but you're grossly overreacting. Kon doesn't need to be as athletic to be better.

I started with VJ for my pick and changed out. Take little from these games. It's summer league, Vj looked the best out there tho tonight from the rooks. Also VJ went BEFORE we drafted so only way we could have picked him was via TRADE up. I am one of the few that think we drafted WELL although I wouldn't have picked the players we picked.

I would have gone

I have seen SOME claim to like VJ who weren't in support of drafting him in the beginning at all. Why are people like that lol? I don't mind being WRONG about a pick. I was WRONG about a FEW over the years.

My three biggest was

Anthony Edwards - He was the only regret I have
Wembanyama - I didn't want him in fear of him being injured.
Trae Young
Luka - still don't want him
Zion - I guess I was right about him lol
Scoot - I guess I was righter about him lol

Players who I was right about as of recent right out the gate

Shaedon Sharpe
Thompson Twins
Brandon Miller
Bub Carrington
Gradey Dick
Aaron WIggins

I'm man enough to remind of my wrongs. *not saying anyone else isn't* I have been RIGHT about a LOT more than I have been wrong about tho. My point RIDE WITH YOUR CHOICES.

Yeah I mentioned earlier I wasn't necessarily on the VJ train, but as the draft got closer I was warming up to VJ if we couldn't get Ace.

Not gonna act like I was a VJ fan because I wasn't for the most part. He looked good last night I must admit.

See people it's not hard to admit when you were wrong. :D

Shoutouts to AJ Mitchell. I THINK I had him as the HIGHEST RATED PG. I think he gonna be a solid backup to SGA. He got injured but was starting to come on

I wanted VJ the 3rd most (Flagg, Harper). Preferred Kon to Ace (especially with an extra Sexton thrown in).
Ace should play better some day but he is a crappy teammate with low bbiq and no go to move. Mostly junky contested shots. So glad we passed on that. Brandon is already the better version of that archetype wing. I'm sure Ace will have big games in the future but I am not sure he is actually good.
