From both sides, not sure I understand the Madueke move to Arsenal. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he a RW? As long as Saka is healthy, the majority of minutes belong to him. Is Madueke simply wanting a pay bump?

Meanwhile, Arsenal should be looking for a needle-mover. Thus far, from what I have seen of Madueke, he is not that.

Maybe the bigger question -- why does Arteta continue to go the Chelsea well for players?

You know me, I'm very honest and candid about the players I do and do not rate, and the amount of those at my club that fall into the latter have been bountiful as we're just coming through one of the darkest periods of time in modern Chelsea history.

I was very loud about my willingness to sell Mount, Havertz and Gallagher while the media tried to portray them as pivotal players at the club, Madueke doesn't have that same sort of media pull but he's another one that can leave to a rival without a care from me.

Signing him falls under the same bracket as Garnacho, except Garnacho is two years younger so there are more excuses for his wild inconsistency. Swinging on a winger that generates a lot of box touches, non-pen xG and are volume shooters. In theory this is how you scout the next Salah. Madueke has fundamental issues technically, his first touch is atrocious and he doesn't look up when he plays / slow processor.

For Arsenal I'm guessing there's something in his underlying data they're a fan of, he's built strong, England intl, acclimated to London already.

Also feels like a bit of Dicteta overruling Berta and handpicking targets, which is I why I assume Edu left. Should let your recruitment team do their job, even the best managers in history weren't good at cosplaying DOF.

Appears as if Gyokeres is headed to Arsenal, according to Ornstein and Romano. No excuses for Arteta now.

Can't remember such an active transfer window for the Gunners and I like it. We are filling many of the roster needs. I believe another DM and a Defender are the remaining transfers, if we assume that Madueke makes the move and that we're able to sign Nwaneri long-term.

Never said it was, however, Arsenal has finished second three times in a row now.

It's clear the club feels Arteta is the manager to get them over the line, hence the significant amount of backing. But if it's not this year, not sure you can point to a position or player as the issue.

Just get me a propa wide CB and we're winning the league.

Cleary as per this thread (and history) we've got a level of mentality over at SW6 that they just can't seem to match in the red part of North London.

Sounds like in addition to Gyokeres, Norgaard could be signing for us this week.

I was going through his film and his data prior to the Delap signing. This is an unbelievable CF that will undoubtedly be world class.

I'm just not sure whether it means Howe is going to start playing with two up top as it seems to be getting popular again, or the precursor to an Isak sale for record fee.

The question is whether Newcastle United are looking at him should the unthinkable happen -- Liverpool bidding 150m+ for Isak. Personally, I do not see this happening.

Otherwise, Ekitike is not moving to the Magpies to play backup, especially since he can remain at Frankfurt for CL.

Think they'll play with two up top like they would have with Joao Pedro. Ekitkie often drifted around to pull the strings for Marmoush to score.

Arsenal is also trying to get Eberechi Eze now too. Is this real life?

Care to explain Arsenal bidding £50m, including add-ons, for Madueke -- to be a backup? He joined Chelsea in January 2023 in a £28.5m deal from PSV Eindhoven.

Has he shown that much improvement to be worth the increase? I would argue if he has, why are the Blues selling him? To me, Arsenal, once again, is having their pants pulled down, just as they did with Sterling.

Arteta must owe Chelsea a favor. That club is his crutch.

All I can say is they're clearly going for it. Full send this summer to try to finally win the league.

Out: Sterling, Neto, Jorginho, Tierney, Partey, Tomiyasu, with Zinchenko expected to be sold.

In: Zubimendi, Kepa, Norgaard (soon to be announced), Gyokeres (soon to be announced, and making offers for Madueke and Eze. Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri getting spots with the first team.

It's definitely an improvement over last season and a much deeper team if it finishes like it looks above, but Liverpool is getting better too so we will see how this goes.

No doubt about the underlined.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Arteta if Arsenal ends the season without a trophy. At some point, the finger has to point to him.

If Madueke is brought in, likely cover for both Saka and Martinelli, would Eze still be a target? I struggle to think he would make the move from Crystal Palace to simply be Ødegaard's backup.

And where would that leave Nwaneri? It's not as if Madueke or Saka are aging...
