Salaries in Europe are after tax and there are other amenities that aren't counted towards the reported salary, for example a lease on a house, a leased car and other perks. 10M before tax is about the same bottom line as 4M before tax plus whichever comped amenities he'll be recieving. Depending on U.S state tax (which varies), he's probably leaving a bit of money on the table but he's made plenty in his career and clearly that difference is pretty negligible to him, which makes sense if he preferes to live and raise his family in Europe. It's a lifestyle choice and he's willing to accept a little less money
it's also an easier job..
Less games, less travel,a fraction of the media\community obligations NBA player have,no need to train as hard or as much either
