In due time. Once that 3pt shot gets to around 40% like his coach said.

you don't worry about FG% in the summer league

just the fact that he isn't scared to take shots is a win for this franchise lol

but as I said pre-draft the first step pops, we will see if the rest of the game also comes around. The catch and shoot 3 stuff probably won't happen with our "guards".

He’s special. I haven’t felt like this since Maxey’s SL after his rookie year where I knew a guy was a star.

I was tripping for thinking of taking Ace.

The midrange, which was the naysayers rallying cry for Edgecombe, was looking damn good tonight.

Whether it’s with his speed, the ebb and flow of a 1-5 PnR, crafty footwork in the midrange, or simply rising up over defenders, he can get to his spots and create shots. The main question is his shooting efficiency, something even guys like Donovan Mitchell and Anthony Edwards struggled with early in their careers. But he’s working on a very solid foundation with his shooting profile, ability to get to the paint and to get to the line, it’s really up to his work ethic to take him there.

He’s better than advertised.

I feel good about VJ drawing fouls since he was pretty damn good at it in college. I don't think he has the shooting profile of Ant Edwards, at least not yet, but I think he is a better distributors than Ant was at the same stage. His vision is honestly being sorely underrated.

Ace had a good game too. Missed his last 7 shots when the game mattered. iIRC he was 3-13. Nice. At least he got a coaching gig for his agent.

Just watched the game. Was impressed with VJ, his athletic abilities are really good and he will be an impactful player. He only needs a better jumper. If he can improve his jumper a bit, and can be a 35-37% 3 pt shooter with good volume, he can be be a 20-5-5 guy with good defense. If his jumper improves Maxey-like he will be an allstar, no doubt. Really liked Bona too, hope he gets some decent minutes as backup C this year.

Broome looked pretty good in the post, but his lack of leaping ability was evident. Guys were skying over him to grab boards with ease. He really can’t jump. Like at all.

He has good feel but if he’s gonna stick he’s gonna have to develop his touch or 3…he missed like 3 easy layups tonight.

Agreed, but also keep in mind it’s summer league. We had effectively zero spacing, which meant any post offense had the defense swarming to double and triple team.

He may be a true PF, who can play limited small ball 5 minutes. I do think he would pair well with Joel.

Vj and Bona high motor and athleticism , is just what the sixers need in their rotation. Justin Edwards didn't look great but his jumper looks legit.

We got a good one y’all. I couldn’t be happier after a summer league debut.

Some other thoughts:

-Bona looked strong as hell out there. He will be an excellent backup big this year.

-Edwards was a little shaky but he suffers most from the lack of a PG on the roster. I need more rebounding from him if he’s ever gonna steal a starting spot.

-Broome flashed his playmaking and IQ but his lack of athleticism was obvious in game 1. He’ll need to recalibrate his finish and play style to succeed in the NBA. For now, he’s someone who can eat up spot minutes because he’s definitely smart enough to play in the league.

Very impressed with Adem Bona. He definitely gained a lot of strength! He's looking the a reincarnated Dalembert!

Bona trying to dunk and block everything is fun. Him trying to block everything also puts him out of position way too often though. Summer league, so meh, just an observation. I like how much bigger and stronger he looks than these guys. Should be ready for that primary backup spot (don't love the idea of him start.

Edwards looked like he was kinda just going through the motions. Jumper looked good.

Broome looked exactly like what the scouting report said. Low ceiling, high floor guy. Kinda reminds me of Carlos Boozer without the scoring chops. Looks like he should be able to do some DHO stuff with the guards, hit an open 3, rebound, and punish small in the post by sealing them off and getting easy ones. The athleticism looks pretty terrible and I'm not sure what position he guards. Gonna struggle on the perimeter at the 4 and not gonna provide rim protection as a 5.

VJ... hell yeah. He just looked so much better than everyone else on the floor. Just summer league, but I'm excited that we might have a stud. Offensive creation is supposed to be the concern, but we was able to create pretty damn easily, and was doing a lot of things that I think will translate to real games. That ability to rise up over guys in the midrange could be a major weapon.

On the other side... thank god we didn't draft Ace, lol. Filipowski looked solid. He falls into the Broome category defensively, but he's skilled offensively.

Johni Broome definitely is not impressive physically, but he absolutely can give us a 20 point, 10 rebound, and 5 assist game when Embiid sits if he starts and plays 30+ minutes. We've never been able to say that for an Embiid backup.
