I am being conservative with San Antonio but I could see them being a top 5 team as soon as next year. Similar to where the Rockets were this year but with Wemby instead of Jalen Green. Putting them in 9th for now.
You still have Boston as a top 3 seed?

They lost 4 of their top 6 guys. With a 5th coming off surgery.

I'd be genuinely shocked if Boston finishes top 3 in the East, in 2026.

To be fair Porzingis and Horford and arguably Holiday were less important than Pritchard last year, but yes agreed, they won’t be a top 3 seed.
They probably are a playoff team, but more like a 6 seed.

Well we didn’t see Paolo and Franz the whole season and we’re adding Suggs who is borderline AS. Black takes a leap or if Jase is a better Cole Anthony this is the best team in the east

Top half:

Thunder
Nuggets
Cavs
Rockets
Knicks
Wolves
Bucks
Lakers
Mavericks
Spurs
Clippers
Warriors
Magic
Pistons
Celtics
Sixers

How you rank the current power rankings in the NBA?

I would have the Mavericks over the Rockets, Bucks, and Lakers.

I have Cleveland 3. Boston 10. And I'm being nice, they are cooked.

So Boston as the third seed in the east… stick to the Jokic hate posts, that seems to be your niche.

It's not though...

Tyus should probably start over Suggs but won't due to Suggs being part of the core.

Bane is an upgrade over KCP but if he's not getting the same looks bc Mosley is clueless then his impact may be less than people are expecting. And i liked Richardson's dad but he's a rookie, so no one is sure what he'll be.

Franz is a good player, who lost his shot but who is serviceable behind him? I'd say no one.

Banchero is the best player on their team, by accolades; but he has never had a shot. He is who will need to sacrifice the most for this team to be what they want to be, no more 20 FGA/game on questionable efficiency. He also does not have a serviceable back-up. Ji is okay but can't play many minutes without getting hurt.

Then their rotation at the 5 is questionable, at best. WCJ is mid, Moe is hurt, and ik people love Goga's defense but i feel he's very limited.

This is pretty much how I see it -- although I'd swap Indiana and Detroit, and as usual there's at least a half-dozen teams just below who might replace any of these 12 if/when there are significant injuries
Pacers still a top 4 seed?

I know Carlisle is a good coach but I have trouble seeing that.

Nembhard could be poised for a breakout season and Siakam will do his thing. But having to rely on Mathurin starting seems like a shakey proposition. He's very inconsistent and a bit of a hothead.

Having Huff try to replace Turner seems like quite the drop off in talent. We'll see if Jackson signs the QO and if he does, i assume he's still not fully ready by the start of the season. I'd probably prefer Bryant but they kept Bradley.

biased Bucks fan here, but surprised so many people have the Pacers ahead of the Bucks. Do people just don't think Hali was that important to the success? And turner to a lesser degree?

I'm not sure.

I will say the Bucks guard depth is pretty concerning. But Giannis is for sure the best player in the East.

from top to bottom

Championship favourites - these four teams to me all have the greatest chance to make it to the Finals.
01 Oklahoma City
02 Houston
03 Denver
04 Cleveland

In the hunt - Despite not being at what I think is the top-4 in the NBA, these 6 teams all pass the test for being right in contention and if things fall the right way, could end up with a CF or NBA Finals appearance.
05 Orlando
06 Minnesota
07 LA Lakers
08 New York Knicks
09 LA Clippers
10 Golden State

Hinges on health. - Depending on how things play out with this group of variable teams, they could be sinking or rising. Philadelphia could be a top-4 team but also could sink if PG/Embiid are hurt again. Dallas gets Kyrie back late, maybe. Boston, Indiana, Milwaukee all in the same boat with star players OFS next year.
11 Philadelphia
12 Dallas
13 Boston
14 Indiana
15 Milwaukee

The "7 to 10" seeds - These teams will be all right in the hunt for playoff positions, but can they sustain enough wins to push up ? I'm not sure, all 5 of them have big questions to answer or have not been deep into the playoffs in their current iterations.
16 Toronto
17 Atlanta
18 San Antonio
19 Memphis
20 Detroit

Outside, looking in - need big contributions. These 4 teams are on a better level than the tanking cadre below, but feels like a play-in road into the playoffs.
21 Portland
22 Phoenix
23 Miami
24 Chicago

Lottery-bound - these teams will be developing players and will be hard pressed to make it into the top-10 in their respective conferences.
25 Pelicans
26 Sacramento
27 Charlotte
28 Brooklyn
29 Washington
30 Utah

I think it's perfectly reasonable for the Mavs to have a high variance in perception. You have Kyrie coming back in January, AD, and maybe Flagg has a borderline LeBron rookie year and that makes a pretty damn good team..... Or you have a 33 yo guard who relies on quickness coming off major knee surgery, a top 15 player who is notoriously made of glass, and a rookie that is only going to be a slightly positive player in a tough west. Wouldn't shock me if they were a 4 seed or the 10th pick

And even Kyrie is saying he doesn't know if he'll be back by the 2026 playoffs.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/mavericks/2025/06/28/cooper-flagg-point-guard-jason-kidd-mavericks/84398657007/#:~:text=In%20that%20introductory%20news%20conference,put%20him%20at%20point%20guard.

Coupled with Kidd wanting to play Flagg at PG.

I could vert easily see the Mavs being bad next season, especially if AD misses his customary 20 or so games.

I cant see Philly (Embiid and PG injury history) or Boston (with all of their roster turnover) having a better record than the Mavs come next April. I understand the concerns about Irving and Davis but i have a feeling that Flagg is gonna have a big year and the frontline of PJ, Gafford, Lively, and Davis is going to be really good. If Russell can be at least decent until Irving comes back we should be in good shape.

The Magic have added a couple of good assistant coaches. They added Shammgod last week and Prunty this week. I'll be surprised if they aren't in the top 15 offenses next season.
