Notable about these guys is that they don't look for shortcuts.

I think it's merely a situation where they are rolling extra minor transactions into the existing Durant deal because you have more flexibility that way and you can generate bigger TPE's as future assets. This is similar to how we traded Westbrook for Kuzma, KCP and Harrell, and then kept the trade open-ended for a while until we could figure out how to roll Dinwiddie into it.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVII
With the (reportedly) Whitmore trade, the Wizards have Coulibaly, Whitmore, Champagne, Middleton, Riley and Kispert at the SF position. Even if we think of the PF and SF spots as being interchange-able in todays NBA, thats still a logjam. Assuming Riley goes to the Go-Go's, this pretty much means that Kispert or Middleton has to be traded.

He’d have to console all of us! I like the Cam move but he’s not better than Champagnie, at least now. He is a lot younger.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Will bought cheap on Whitmore, who's not even 21 years old yet!
The roster crunch is starting to get interesting, that's for sure.

We have also given both Bilal and Corey minutes at the 2 in the last 2 years, fwiw.

Kispert fits into the MLE - any takers for him still out there? Denver, Lakers, Clippers, Phoenix, Dallas...some contenders or wannabe contenders would benefit from Kispert. Toss in a couple of second round picks and call it a day. I think that would also close the book on the Grundle/Sheppard reign of error.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Yep. Kispert MUST be traded. There should not be any minutes for him ahead of the plethora of younger wings.

Come-on now, it was Will who foolishly gave Corey a 4-year contract.

I think the idea was they could trade Kispert for an asset later but that turned out to be a more dry market than expected.

Also Coach BK scrapped a lot of the sets that sprang Kispert loose for open buckets. In favor of a ‘everybody creates’ style that put Corey in a dribbling attack role. Not his strength. He doesn’t have the quicks for on ball shot creation. Needs to be fed.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVII
With all these forwards, I wonder if we can work out some sort of quantity-for-quality deal with Phoenix where we give them some forward depth and absorb Beal in exchange for Maluach?
Something like:
Phoenix trades:
Beal ($53.6M)
Maluach ($6M)
Washington trades:
Middleton ($33M)
Kispert ($13M)
D.Jones ($2.7M)
Riley ($3.5M)
It actually makes real good sense for Phoenix given their glut at center and total lack of forwards. And they get off Beal.
For us, after this deal, we roll with:
PG Bub
SG Tre/AJ
SF Bilal/Champagnie
PF Kyshawn/Cam
C Sarr/Maluach
That's two deep at every position with a good young prospect, plus our vet mentors: McCollum, Smart, Olynyk.
Beal would be bought out. It's the only way he'd agree to it.

Maluach was handpicked by Booker who apparently had a lot of say in their offseason moves. I don't think there's any chance they are moving him.

I keep mentioning it, and I haven't seen anyone comment on my posts regarding it, but basically, it looks like next years draft currently mocks out in the top 11 to:
7 Wings
1 Big
2 PG's (1 a combo dude)
1 Guard
So not only do we have a massive backlog of Wings, but also, for now, next years draft is top heavy in Wings, including 7 in the top 11 overall for now, and 2 of the top 4 picks as well. So.....I don't think there's any question, that unless we land Peterson, Mikel Brown, or Boozer, we are going to have to make {a} trades{s}.
That's a problem for the winter deadline, and next summer, not so much now, but there's no denying it would be better to address sooner, before we may have to trade at a discount based on our slotting and how the league looks at our roster. I imagine the wings are pretty much the least interesting prospects to them in the top 5 next year (Dybantsa and Ament), otoh, with Ament's current size, he could end up being a big if he fills out (and I am curious as to whether Ament ends up being the Harper/VJ of this class, climbing above Bailey and VJ, and Bailey respectively, he is an absolute freak in terms of size/length and game at this point, and the fact that he, Boozer, and Peterson appear to be much more willing to play D than Dybantsa, for now, suggests to me our board may prioritize those 3 over Dybantsa, and maybe even Brown if he blows up in college.

I will be keeping an eye on quaintance next season. He was a freshman for Arizona State this season but was too young to declare. Plus he tore his ACL in March.
He looks like he could be a Ben Wallace type of center, able to protect the rim while also defending guards well on switches.
He is transferring to Kentucky this year.

I'm assuming Winger & Co. are aware of the issue. They either are working to address it right now with something big like my Maluach trade proposal, or they're intentionally leaving a hole to promote tanking.
A third option would be just move Kispert for a backup center and a SRP: something like Kispert for Saric. But I don't really think that's their style. They already have their veteran mentor prototype in Olynyk. If they make a trade to add to the center depth, I would expect it to be some guy with upside potential.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVII
I do think it will help that the top of the draft looks like a pretty solid tier, rather than this year's draft that in truth, felt more like:
Superstar:
1A: Flagg
1B: Harper
Very Good Player:
3. VJ
Chasm, followed by....
High Floor Lower Ceiling
4. Kon
High Ceiling Low Floor
5. Bailey
Moderate Ceiling High Floor:
6. Tre
I remain convinced that the class was basically 4-5 guys (depending upon Tre) and Kon had no business going top 4 and wouldn't have gone top 4 if not for Charlotte's paranoia about losing him to Utah.
Next years feels like:
Harper Level upside:
1. Peterson
Great Scorer worrisome Defense
2. Dybantsa
Not Quite the same ceiling, but mega high floor:
3. Boozer
Super High Ceiling, reasonable Floor
4. Ament
Sneay Fast Riser Possibility or big fall guy....
5. Mikel Brown
I think the top 4 is just the top 4 while Brown has a chance to pull a Harper, and has a floor below the top 10, really high volatility potential with Brown to me (as high as 2, as low as outside the top 10)......
I think that leaves us in a pretty good position in that we can just grab Peterson for PG, draft Boozer for a Big, or draft the crazy possibilities of Ament (Giant Wing option, could be a stretch 4 easily as well, rumors Boozer can do that too), or if Mikel Brown delivers, he gives us a 2nd PG option inside the top 5.
I don't really think we have to draft the only guy who to me sounds like a pure Wing (Dybantsa), seems like Ament is growing to the size of a guy who could potentially play 4 and 5, not just as a big 3. If we stink enough to lock in a top 5 pick, it will be really interesting, as everyone seems like a good fit beyond Dybantsa, and even Dybantsa is good enough to justify trading talent out for.
So what are the team needs of the teams we're competing with in the tanking? Charlotte? Utah, Brooklyn? It's interesting to play talkathon with the Suns projected slotting redraft, a great reminder of how valuable that pick swap is for this draft if we finish in the bottom 2 pre lottery.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVII
I think it's too early to make any meaningful predictions about next year's draft. I certainly wouldn't make permanent roster decisions right now based on projections of a bunch of high school kids. We gotta see these guys against college competition first.
