Cavs and Pacers
Cavs get: Bennedict Mathurin, Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, '27 and '29 unprotected firsts and 3 2nds ('27 Jazz, '28 Mavs and '29 Blazers)
Pacers get: Donovan Mitchell
Why?
Cavs trade Mitchell to give the keys to Mobley, getting some great 3&D players and picks and save some money as well.
Pacers get a superstar to compete next year and a good fit next to Haliburton.

Re: Cavs and Pacers
I don't think the Cavs are eager to blow up their team with every other eastern contender or pretender getting destroyed by injury
investigate Adam Silver

Cavaliers could have been in the finals if not for Garland injuries.
Seems like a weird direction for the Cavaliers.
I think the Cavaliers look to reset after this year, similar to how Minnesota did last off-season and the Pacers did this off-season.
Cleveland is head-and-shoulders above the East at the moment.

Re: Cavs and Pacers
If you think it's weird for Cavs, it is equally weird for the Pacers. Both had great seasons and neither will start over.

The Cavs aren't doing this. I get that it's a fantasy board, but the conversation is much more interesting when proposals are grounded in reality.

I like to be realistic with my trade idea's, I rarely post any of them. This makes no sense for the Cavs who should be the #1 team in the East with Indiana and Boston out of the mix. It should be Cavs, Knicks and then ?? Maybe Philly if they have a healthy season, maybe the Bucks if it all works. The only 2 teams that look to be in the ECF are the Cavs and Knicks.
I'd consider trading Garland in the right deal but not Mitchell.

Here's the problem, if the Cavs don't at least get to the ECF next season big changes will come and Mitchell will be eligible for a 35% max extension. As good as Mitchell is, that's not a contract that can be handed out lightly, especially by a team in the second apron.
I'm also of the opinion that Allen should go if we end up trading Garland or Mitchell. I don't have this summer as the time to make the move.

"Giving the Keys to Mobley" sounds like a great way to regress your team and be mediocre for the next few years.

Agree. Cavs would be nuts to make major changes when most of the best of the EC is taking a gap year and a trip to the Finals is as wide open as it will ever be
As for the Pacers, I think they'd be nuts to try to build around 3 stars (Hali, Siakam, Mitchell) who will total at least 85% of the cap -- it just doesn't leave enough room to build out the roster with playable depth while staying under the aprons
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

Re: Cavs and Pacers
I don't think either team does this.
IND isn't going to take what makes them special and flip it all for a high-end volume scorer. Plus why are they trying to turn themselves into one of the smallest teams in the league?
CLE would be looking for a centerpiece singular player back of higher value than any of these three have. Plus at this point for CLE you'd just be looking at too much depth.
If we just ignore IND obviously having zero interest in this, take two of the player and one of the pics and group that to a 3rd team for a single forward. Then that forward, the 3rd player left, and the other 1st can go to CLE.

Re: Cavs and Pacers
I don't think either team would do this, but they'd both have to at least consider it for a moment.
For the Pacers it makes them worse this season. All three of the outgoing guys are expected to be starters this year. What's their lineup after this? McConnell/Mitchell/Walker/Siakam/Huff? The depth chart is Sheppard and Toppin and then all the randoms? And then what, we bring back Tyrese in a year and have a Haliburton/Mitchell backcourt... defensive nightmare! And we lose future picks and depth and all that just to change our whole identity. Haliburton and Mitchell don't work together in my opinion.
As for the Cavs... Well, they have to at least do some math on this. It gives them much better depth and nice future assets. Garland/Nembhard/Nesmith/Mobley/Allen might have some offensive struggles but would be absolute defensive beast of a team. But they'd be losing the star quality that Mitchell brings. At the end of the day, who's their go-to scorer? Or can they replicate the Pacers' success by having a much more equitable scoring distribution? Can Garland lead that?

That's the other issue with these types of dramatic trade proposals at this point in the summer. Second apron teams are like oil tankers. They can't just pivot in a completely new direction like this. Ty Jerome is gone and not coming back.
