The Lakers feel like a really good fit.

Seem like they been saving the BAE to at least offer to Beal. Maybe why Horford hasn’t choice a team yet.

I see the fit but I think they'd need to find some guard defense.
Do they start Reaves on the bench? Does that make him choose elsewhere in FA?

They need guard depth and Beal is going to be the best guard available. He can scale up when guys go down, and I think he will play really well off of Luka/LeBron. It also opens the option to trade Reaves.

This seems like a terrible idea. Why not just eat the cost the next 2 years? They are clearly on a re-tool plan around Booker and youth. In 2 years they free up a ton of cap space.

so Charlotte have to get rid of some very average wings. Nick Smith jr, DaQuan Jeffries, Josh Green, I'm sure Connaughton and Sexton could be had.
any chance they can off load them or will they have to suck it up and waive some?

I guess the tax amount is just too prohibitive.

Because it allows them to improve the roster this year

And next year.
And save hundreds of millions of dollars along the way.

Id say there's no improving this roster with any mle fa left.
Its purely a financial move for the owner, thats going to handicap the team for 5 years. Bucks have giannis to it was understandable, you dont do that for booker.

Resetting repeater tax and avoiding 2nd apron penalties help their team, not handicap them. Their 2032 swap is suddenly worth something again! (Instead of being frozen)

I would bench reaves in a second if that meant Beal would sign.
If playing off the bench cause reaves to look elsewhere then he ain’t really focused on winning

S.Adams/Eason for A.Reaves..?
Should I add anything else, Houston? Why are they doing it? Houston gets a high-level guard, whom they could extend with the "expiring" FVV money and the contract they get rid of Adams. The Lakers get a high-caliber defender and depth at center...while positioning themselves to receive Beal if he's acquired.

It doesn't really handicap the team much. I don't quite understand the fear of having 12% of cap dead.
And yeah, Suns save $200m in luxury tax this season and $150m next season ($350m tax total) with this one move to stretch Beal.
Its not a little tax
