Now this, AK, is why having a surplus of picks is important! Even if you hate using them to select players, you can use them as trade currency. Someone should tell him that

One of them was a Bulls pick, lol.

That's hilarious and so not a surprise.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

What i mean is, it was one of our picks that we gave away (as we always do) that was used in that trade!

That organization is so effing pathetic its disgusting. We never contend (not even for midseason cups let alone championships), we never have a warchest of picks, and were always at pick defecit (currently don't have a 2nd till 2028). I can understand not having picks to deal if we're perennial contenders. This ain't it

It wasnt offered to us. Whitmore is a DC area native. Rockets worked with his camp to find a deal - clearly he had interest in returning home and Rockets were ok with the return. Two way street. My guess is we wouldve had to top this offer by a decent margin

Least # of playoff wins in the last 5 years along with Washington and Detroit.
Washington has 2 1st round picks next draft, and 4 future picks/swaps incoming in addition to all their own picks
Detroit has already surpassed Chicago.

I think there's a solid argument for AK putting Chicago being in the worst position in the league. And he was rewarded with an extension.

Bulls have Giddey and Matas. There's not a player on the Wizards I would trade either of them for. I'm kind of surprised people aren't more excited about Giddey. Maybe because he's not flashy. He was putting up great numbers when he got the keys, would expect him to be more comfortable next year. Reports out Matas is bulking up and looking great. Either or both could look like All-Stars if given the chance. Nobody on Washington I'd take for Noa or Coby either. Maybe Sarr. Only two players I'd take for Tre Jones, lol. We're way ahead of them.

You know how we love Caruso? Year before we signed him, Caruso averaged 6.4 pts, 2.9 rbs, 2.8 assts. He was already 26. He shot 33% from 3 his first year with us. People are crashing this Ball for Okoro trade. Everybody was fine with Ball being traded, just not happy with the return. What was the return? A 24 year old 3 and D player who's possibly starting. Exactly what we needed. He's probably not going to be a star, but he could be very good. We have quite a few guys who have flashed some game.

My dark horse for ROY and the best player to come out of this class. It's still Summer League. But the guy has superstar potential written all over him since I saw him play for the Bahamas national team.

If only for my own sanity, I’m going to choose to believe that they all know it’s just because he’s going to have a statue in front of the building someday and that no one else would ever pay him that.

Watching the Bulls have to beg someone to take Lavine while PG and Book get these deals will just always be hilarious to me. And a lesson. Even at the highest levels where one would imagine objectivity to be a revered ideal, perception lays a heavy hand on the scale.

The Suns handing Book 75M while working to buy out another atrocious contract with Beal is comedic. You think they would learn from past mistakes. Book is a much better player but he’s not winning a championship without some serious help.

This 3 way trade with Norm Powell to Miami and John Collins to LAC…

Clearing the way for the Clips to sign Bradley Beal to be signed after his buyout? Would make sense.

Yeah it's crazy that AK doesn't care at all about picks, which is arguably the primary currency any team could have to be considered asset rich/poor. We're not in any conversation for these prime free agents because we simply don't have the capital to play the game.

Simmons spoke in depth on the Bulls today on his pod as the least desirable team over the next 5 years. I don’t agree with that, but agree with this part. Turn up the pressure on Jerry, sell the damn team!!!

Return to Chicago Bulls
