Is Beal a better fit than Dame?
I'm not totally for either move, but can't help but be intrigued and thinking that
DWhite
Beal
JB
Tatum
Whoever
is a better eventual lineup of the two.

Yes, Beal is a better fit. But his situation is different. The Suns aren't just outright releasing him like MIL did. They actually can't waive and stretch his full amount because it gives them too much dead money on the cap than the CBA allows because of past waive and stretches they've done. So Beal has to actually give up money in his buyout and thus is going to want to sign for more than the minimum.
Also, while the Beal/Tatum connection may be strong, it's a stronger selling point to Dame right now. Beal will be on the court, where Tatum isn't. Dame will be in the training room, where Tatum is. Main selling point to Dame is honestly that he gets to have a rehab buddy for his recovery year here.
If Tatum were healthy it wouldn't surprise me if he recruited Beal heavy and maybe got him to take less to come here. Not insane. Presumably, BOS would have used picks in that scenario to move Simons for a big and/or to clear salary to keep Horford/Kornet. So Beal would be signing onto a perfect fit in the starting lineup on a title contender. But alas, that is not the case now.

Yuck no re: Beal. Hasn't played more than 60 games in any of the last 6 years. Is 32 now, will be 34 by the time the team is competitive again. Has been minus in DBPM every year after his rookie year. For his career. Last year was -7.7 and -8.7 for on-court and on/off/100 possessions.

Reported trades that have not yet been made official:
BOS-POR: Holiday for Simons
ATL-BOS-BKN: Porzingis for Mann, Niang
BKN-DEN: Johnson for Porter Jr
DEN-SAC: Saric for Valanciunas
DET-MIA: Fontecchio for Robinson (S&T)The trades involving the Nets are a bit more complicated, because they'll be renouncing free agents to clear cap space before the trades.
The other deals could be in process. There's always a chance something is being held to expand a deal. We'll see!

Understand that people have a bad taste in their mouth toward Beal and Dame, but thats mostly because they're max guys that are old and got hurt. Take away the max part and they are differently desirable as role players that aren't counted on to be stars.
Beal last year 17-3-4 on 49%, 39% and 80%. Start him next year while Tatum is out and slide JB up, then bring him off the bench. 17-3-4 in 60 games is not worth 40 mil, but fair market for that is still probably 15 to 20 mil, if we can get him for 25% of that, its super worth it.
Dame, same thing, 25-5-7 last year, sure he sucks at D, he's old, he's injured, but what are the chances he comes back and isn't better than Pritchard still. Slim to none I think. Maybe Dame ends up as a cheaper version of Pritchard of the bench. That'd be amazing!
I get these guys based on age and injury status arent Jrue or KP replacements, but if they can be had for pennies on the dollar we need to grab them. How else do you all propose we improve this team on a budget?

Is a "soft tank" even worth it? If we're not gonna be contenders, might as well go all in on the tank, right? Starting a 4th string big, backed up by another 4th string and a late 2nd rounder is a good start, but with Brown, White, Pritchard and Simons, that team's still 7th/8th seed at worst in a weak East. I think it's a must to move Simons for preferably very little talent in return. For Brown, you already got something to work off with his knee injury and offseason surgery. Got to go with the no back to backs, "swelling," load management, the whole nine yards with him. White is probably gonna play every game, but he's not gonna win many games on his own. But Simons gotta go first.

How do you punt on a team With JB and White? Load manage the entire season? How do we know JB isn't gonna lead the league in scoring?

Probably none of Queta, Amari, Luka Garza or Tillman (or the mininum big man we flip X-Man for) are going to be the long term solution at center, but I don't think we had a long term solution at center. Al Horford is 39, he's not the future. KP is injury and ailment prone, hasn't big reliable and has hit or miss chemistry with JT. Luke is a very effective rotation big, he's made himself into a good NBA player but he is not the long term answer either.
Lots of centers drafted in the 2nd round -- Hartenstein, Gafford, Zubac, Nicolas Claxton -- have developed into a starting level centers by their late 20s. Im excited we can give minutes & a chance to develop to Queta, Amari, Garza this year. Even if they have limited ceilings, if one of them emerges, that becomes a piece you pair with picks/prospects and go get a bigger name center.

Won't be too hard with JB under the pretense of his offseason meniscus surgery to miss a week here and there due to "swelling" and "pain." OKC basically did it with Shai during their "tank" years.
Personally, I would prefer they would still try as best as they can to compete even without JT but the writing's on the wall with Brad's not (at least it seems) trying to acquire a starting quality center or big.

Personally, I'd much rather they target Lillard. Based on last year, Lillard was simply a significantly better player. He played at a borderline all-nba level whereas Beal was more of a solid starter type level.
Lillard EPM: 0ff: +3.0 Def: -.3 Overall: +2.6 (94th %)
Beal EPM: Off: -.3 Def: -.7 Overall: -1.1 (60th %)
Lillard was more efficient and generates far more gravity with his shooting.
Now, maybe Lillard is just cooked because of the injury. But I think he has more upside than Beal, and that's what the C's should be chasing. I also think there's a good chance Lillard will be on a minimum whereas Beal will probably be more like the MLE.
As an aside, I think Bard will make a move of some sort for a Center before the start of the season. I really don't think they are going to go into next season with Queta, who was their 4th big last year, as their starter. Not saying it will be a star acquisition, and I'm not sure who it will be, but i think they will find a way to bring in a low-end starter or high-end backup type.
I think it would simply be too insulting to Brown and White to give them nothing at center, and also if you want to properly evaluate the younger guys it helps to play a passable center rotation.

I was under the impression that since it was 1 for 1 he could be rerouted immediately unless I’m mistaken. But it could be other stuff such as trying to create a bigger TPE etc…

He really hasn’t, he isn’t even on the team yet.
If anything it’s less likely he lands here as before the 6th he was reportedly traded here but couldn’t be finalized for this year yet. Now there’s no excuse for why he’s not on the team.

You're not wrong, but some were expecting Simons to be rerouted on or before July 6.
So since Simons has not been rerouted and it's already July 7, he survived the first checkpoint.
