I do wonder when the last first round draft pick that was given up on after just two seasons absolutely made noise. I don't mean traded for value but just waived or traded for a loss like Whitmore.

Was the Nesmith trade for a loss? I think so as he was kind of a throw in.

If I’m not mistaken, he was traded for Brogdon. Celtics got back a good player that could help them right away.

This is gold, now people are homers for simply being objective enough to claim Whitmore isn’t a good player. This is an unhealthy obsession you have.

When the childish insults come out, that’s when you know they’ve lost.

What have I lost? You're calling a 20 year old who hasn't played enough minutes because he plays on a stacked team to be a bad player. Personally, I dont give 2 craps what you think tbh. I didnt even direct my comments at you lol.

I’m not saying you’re directing at me. I’m just stating the obvious.

And we can go in circles on this forever but he is objectively a bad player. He just got dealt for nothing despite being halfway through his rookie contract. And contrary to your belief, those stat lines he was putting up were not impressive. They also came at the expense of team play.

And Rockets played Aaron Holiday, Tate and 40 year old Jeff Green. Sometimes even more minutes than they played Whitmore. There were minutes to be had and Whitmore didn’t get them.

And if Houston really cared about him, they wouldn’t have traded him to one of the worst franchises in all of sports. lol.

with a 1st too. I think he was more of a flyer thrown in.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Not sure if there is a deal out there, but wouldn't mind moving RJ to a team with cap space and take back a trade execption and then do a S&T with Philly to take Grimes.

I think this guy is Derrick White 2.0 in the making and only 25. His sample size isn't huge, but he balled well last season.

He is a more ideal backcourt fit with IQ as to RJ giving his 3PT shooting. His D and rebounding is solid as well. Allows to move a few more players out:

Something like RJ to Pistons for 4 future 2nds.

Use the cap space to absorb to trade for Kelly Oubre for Ochai swap. We will be under the cap and can absorb him straight up. The delta will be around 3.5 million.

We then use the trade exception acquired from Detroit to absorb Grimes in a S&T at 18-20 million per season 3+1 team option. Send two seconds to Philly.

Philly now has some extra cap space to pursue another FA.

Some people might think that is not great value for RJ, but I think this fields a much better team for us defensively and offensively.

As Grimes develops he could end up taking over the 1 spot next to either Gradey or Walter.

Some of these posts make me wish there was an -1 button because good lord what an awful idea and an even worse use of assets.

Grimes is a prime example of March/April basketball being fake and his inflated stats are not the result of greater opportunity. And trading Ochai for Oubre? Grotesque.

No, that’s your argument. My argument is I like Whitmore better than RJ for our team because he’s 10X cheaper and is willing to come off the bench.

You have 0 evidence of RJ wanting to come off the bench for us, nor do you honestly even believe he would contemplate coming off the bench for our team. Stop lying to yourself, it’s embarrassing lol.
Wth? The onus would be on YOU to prove it... you can't just make up random crap and say "prove me wrong " :)

The onus would be on you guys since y’all are assuming he would come off the bench for us when he’s in the middle of trying to get an extension lmfao.
Thats literally not how it works brother...

YOU'RE the one saying he refuses to come off the bench. When? How? Where? What evidence is there to this claim? Just vibes?

I think the holdup is Beal's agent trying to find a deal out there where he makes up what he gives up. His agent is the father of the Suns' CEO, so I am sure this will all be settled amicably.

Didn't Stanely Johnson score 30 points one April?

Way back in fuzzy memory days Jerome Moiso once appeared on Pimp My Bench.

This isn’t a one way street. You guys are saying he would accept coming off the bench for this team when there hasn’t been any evidence for that.

This doesnt have to be that complicated, do you really think RJ would accept coming off the bench to let Jakobe or Ochai start for defensive reasons for a team he knows doesn’t really care about him in the long term? Is this a hot take now?

What month did Malachi get 50 for Detroit?

I do think Grimes is a solid 2 way player though. Knicks board is split on whether Thibs misused him and hurt his confidence or he had his chances and flubbed it. Seems like he might be a late bloomer who's finally in the right place.

I think Grimes is a classic trap.

Good player but if you pay him 20M +, you messed up lol. He would be the best option to start at SG but I don’t think I’m willing to pay him that amount of money.

Morey is doing the right thing by playing hardball with him. Don’t pull a Bobby/Masai and overbid for a player who nobody else is bidding for.

Mark Bartelstein, Beal's agent, should be inducted into the hall of fame.

Return to Toronto Raptors
