Here's the rest of that first round in 2018 after Jerome and MPJ, who missed 60% of the games on his rookie contract. So much drama over missing out on Anfernee [taken ELEVEN slots later] and a few journeymen and not a few fellow busts.

The Clippers could have drafted one of these, but except for journeyman Kevin Heurter and Simons--who was mediocre his first 3 seasons--most are ass or close to it, averaging 10 ppg or less. It was a very weak draft, featuring megabust Marvin Bagley III at #2, Trey Young and Mo Bamba at 5 & 6 and Kevin Knox at 9.

15. Washington Wizards: Troy Brown Jr. (Oregon)

Troy Brown Jr. was traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2021 and has since played for multiple teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Detroit Pistons. As of the latest updates, he is not with the Wizards.
Status: Not with original team.
16. Phoenix Suns: Zhaire Smith (Texas Tech)
Zhaire Smith was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on draft night (in a deal involving Mikal Bridges). He last played in the NBA during the 2020–21 season with the Memphis Grizzlies and has since been in the G League or out of the league. He is not with the Suns or 76ers.
Status: Not with original team.
17. Milwaukee Bucks: Donte DiVincenzo (Villanova)
DiVincenzo was traded to the Sacramento Kings in 2022 and later played for the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks. In 2024, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is no longer with the Bucks.
Status: Not with original team.
18. San Antonio Spurs: Lonnie Walker IV (Miami, FL)
Lonnie Walker IV signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022 as a free agent and has since played for the Brooklyn Nets and, as of 2024, the Boston Celtics. He is not with the Spurs.
Status: Not with original team.
19. Atlanta Hawks: Kevin Huerter (Maryland)
Kevin Huerter was traded to the Sacramento Kings in 2022. He remains with the Kings as of the latest updates.
Status: Not with original team.
20. Minnesota Timberwolves: Josh Okogie (Georgia Tech)
Josh Okogie signed with the Phoenix Suns as a free agent in 2022 and has remained with them through the 2024–25 season. He is no longer with the Timberwolves.
Status: Not with original team.
21. Utah Jazz: Grayson Allen (Duke)
Grayson Allen was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, then to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021, and finally to the Phoenix Suns in 2023, where he remains as of 2025.
Status: Not with original team.
22. Chicago Bulls: Chandler Hutchison (Boise State)
Chandler Hutchison was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2021 and has not played in the NBA since the 2020–21 season, spending time in the G League. He is not with the Bulls.
Status: Not with original team.
23. Indiana Pacers: Aaron Holiday (UCLA)
Aaron Holiday was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2021 and has since played for multiple teams, including the Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, and Houston Rockets. As of 2025, he is with the New York Knicks.
Status: Not with original team.
24. Portland Trail Blazers: Anfernee Simons
Anfernee Simons remains with the Portland Trail Blazers as of the 2025–26 season. He has developed into a key player for the team, averaging significant scoring numbers and signing a long-term extension in 2022. UPDATE: Traded to Boston in 2025.
Status: Not with original team.
25. Los Angeles Lakers: Moritz Wagner (Michigan)
Moritz Wagner was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2019 and later played for the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. As of 2025, he is with the Orlando Magic.
Status: Not with original team.
26. Philadelphia 76ers: Landry Shamet (Wichita State)
Landry Shamet was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers on draft night in 2018. He has since played for the Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and Washington Wizards, and as of 2025, he is with the New York Knicks.
Status: Not with original team.
27. Boston Celtics: Robert Williams III (Texas A&M)
Robert Williams III was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in 2023 as part of a deal involving Jrue Holiday. He is no longer with the Celtics.
Status: Not with original team.
28. Golden State Warriors: Jacob Evans (Cincinnati)

Status: Not with original team.
29. Brooklyn Nets: Džanan Musa
Džanan Musa was traded to the Detroit Pistons in 2020 and has not played in the NBA since that season, moving to European leagues. He is not with the Nets.
Status: Not with original team.
30. Atlanta Hawks: Omari Spellman (Villanova)
Omari Spellman was traded to the Golden State Warriors in 2019 and has not played in the NBA since the 2020–21 season, moving to the G League and overseas. He is not with the Hawks.
Status: Not with original team.

Bingo! The 213 Era was never embraced by the city. A lot of Laker fans loved Blake when he first burst on the scene and the team with rookie SGA that took Golden State to six games in the playoffs. A few bright moments on occasion, but 213 did nothing for the Clipper brand overall.

Half the league will have open cap space in 2027 so it might amount to nothing. All stars are under max deals with their current team, it takes a trade to get stars now. Time to develop some players.

I've wanted John Collins on our team for years but losing Powell is going to hurt. He may not have had the best playoffs, but one thing you can always say about Norm is that he's always going to play hard. You can't always say that about other players on our team.

Good luck to Norm in Miami!

Beard & CP3 & Beal

Beard & CP3 & Beal.

Clippers can't talk to Beal until his buyout is final. Tampering.

CP3 is an Unrestricted Free Agent. I have no idea how he'd feel about reuniting with Beard, but if he's talking to the Clippers at all, it means he's willing. But if I'm Chris, I'd much rather be part of a 2 1/2 Hall of Fame rotation than just be James's caddy. That would SUCK in my last year.

James Harden-Chris Paul-Bradley Beal: That's a combo I'd pay to see. Minutes distributed depending on health and effectiveness. Kris Dunn for humping defense.

They should be on the phone together, but I think they're not. Ty must be trusted to decide. So if this is gonna happen, it's going to be backdoor between the players. James Harden-Chris Paul-Bradley Beal. And Dunn. I would be so cool with that if I were any one of them.

Three cones on defense though. John Collins isn't known as a defender either

CP3 is still a decent defender, but of course has lost some foot speed at age 40. Beal and Collins are decent defenders- wouldn't call them cones. Harden basically is a cone with quick hands- that is really his only strength on defense.

FTR, I'm speaking of James Harden-Chris Paul-Bradley Beal as a rotation, not a lineup. And Dunn when D is needed.

Good luck to Miller. I’d be surprised if he isn’t claimed for a look.

Good Clips N Dip

They bring up some good scenarios, points..

Unrelated to that, I've heard now folks on two other podcasts this week (Zach Lowe on his show; either Bontemps/McMahon on hoop collective).. think that Collins is not going to start at PF, and still think it'll be DJJ - I mean, to me, that's 99% not happening and just pretty misinformed. Collins will be the starter at PF, and a consistent game finisher, as well.

Like, that is precisely why the team went out and got Collins lol.. not to have him come off the bench. Could it get to that point? Maybe, would not rule it out, but overall with his game and Kawhi/Zubac/Harden with to compliment Collins, its not likely.

Ty's style is to keep the incumbent and make changes when necessary. First, it helps continuity--the starters are familiar with each other. Second, if you throw Collins out there to start the season, if he fails you have nowhere else to go, and Collins is damaged goods mentally.

Easing him in is the smart move--especially if Beal is signed and made a starter. TWO new starters would be very un-Ty-like. The dramas with Beard and Westbrook [and Mann too] were very disruptive, and I don't expect Collins [or Beale] to handle it as well as Russ did. [I don't think Mann handled demotion all that well either. His game went to hell.]
