HOnestly, I gladly take BEal on a buyout.

Load mange White, Brown and BEal all season long.

Get a great pick, free the cap up as much as possible and 2026-27 clean up the league.

White/Pritchard
Beal/Sheierman
Brown/Hugo
Tatum/Someone that you sign in the offseason or draft
Need someone to fill this role (FA or returned from a trade of Simons/Hauser)/and one of the bigmen currently on roster

Swapping him for Bogdanovic and Derrick Jones Jr would work.

Flip DJJ to a third team for nothing back and we're basically below the tax. Bogdan has a team option next year so he's good as a expiring contract or future trade-able salary.

while I do like Bogdan, that would leave us with 25 Wings?? why do it?

Not many realistic options.

If that were to happen I think Jones is a Keeper and you move Bogdanovic.
Jones is a versatile rotation guy when Tatum gets back.

Because there are super limited options to trading Simons $27m expiring deal vs. options to move DJJ and/or Bogdan. Just gives a ton more options to make moves.

Think you'd find plenty of takes for DJJ eventually and possibly even Bogdan if there are injuries elsewhere.

I can see it happening. LA is a good gateway for other things he wants to do after Basketball. Weather is nice. Teams are okay. Makes more sense than Boston.

Yeah I'd rather keep Jones than Bogi but that's also why I think it'll be a lot easier to move DJJ.

Think you could spin DJJ off immediately, Bogi you might need to hold onto heading into the season before finding a taker. Although the positive of splitting Simons into DJJ/Bogi would be that you could realistically head into the season pretty confident that by the deadline you'd be able to get off one of the two no problem, so you can afford to carry them both for a while and wait to see what presents itself.

I fear with Simons that we could be left holding the bag if he plays poorly or teams just find better alternatives and we end up needing to pay to shave money off his deal and duck the tax.

I'm guessing he goes year to year with his next deal though, so he could very likely be back on the market next summer (especially if LAC flame out) with a healthy Tatum coming back to lure him in on the cheap.

I don't think he's gonna play poorly.

Does he last past the deadline? Who knows.

I actually think he's gonna outdue his averages and force the C's to make a big decision if he's on the roster past the deadline.

He's only 26, he's fast and he can get to the basket.

Defensively he'll be fine also.

I'm guessing somewhere around 2:00-3:00 pm there will be all kinds of Celtics news.

He has only played above average for like 4 months in his entire career.
And he is terrible defensively for his entire career....TERRIBLE...what gives you the impression he is going to be in anyway a good addition and be "fine" defensively here?

That's all things going well though. The other end of the spectrum is that he has an even less efficient scoring season and continues to be a turnstile on defense. In that situation no team even wants to take a flyer on him at his price point and we start looking at having to include more than just 2nds to try and get off his money in time to duck the tax.

Upside isn't worth the risk in my opinion. I'd de-risk and snag whatever movable contracts we can get back in return and then keep wheeling and dealing trying to get 2nd draft guys to take flyers on while getting cheaper.

Gonna be $1m shy of being able to squeeze him in there:

$26.6m TPE and Simons is $27.6m.
