Re: Around the NBA (Part Three)
Maybe Beal buyout and him coming to MIN is not realistic. What about Middleton gets a buyout from Wizards? WAS traded for CJM, it would makes sense for a team in their situation to trade Middleton or buy him out. I don't see any realistic trade for Middleton.

I haven't seen any news about Middleton seeking buyout, but if he will, I like his fit here a lot. He is smart, experienced sharpshooter who knows how to balance in offense between his own shots and involving teammates. He is a legit 6'7" with 6'10" wingspan.

I don't get why the Grizzlies sold Jay Huff so cheaply even if they were going to sign Landale.
He's a plus backup Center who can shoot threes well on a 3 year minimum salary deal.
Exactly what we needed here but we spent a 1st round draft pick on a 3 or 4 year project at the same position.

Beringer might take 5 years to be a star, but could be useful a lot sooner than you think.
They way he’s talked about “great defense” “excellent catch radius / great hands” “moves very well /
Sounds like he’s already better than Rudy.
Great defense and good hands. The ability to catch pretty much anything in his vicinity.. the agility and speed to defend and recover..
Would have love wcj, but hopefully Beringer changes my mind soon enough.
Watch the video of his entire season of play in the Beringer video and not just the highlights.
He's incredibly raw and just learning to play basketball.
Essentially nothing but an athlete right now.
He's super far away from a passable rotation player let alone better than Rudy, who's already super limited offensively.
For the next couple years at least he's going to be limited to lobs and putbacks and shoot 50-60% from the line.
I'm disappointed in the front office betting so much on what I see as upside on just one side of the ball.
We need 2 way players.
Best case he's Joakim Noah who's extra crappy on offense.

Where are the rotation minutes for buyout players and why would they want to come here for them?
Are they coming from the 10-15 minutes we have potentially available for each of Dillingham and TJ?
Agents look at this team and see the 8 man rotation Finch played nearly all of last year.
We're probably going to get scraps.
Maybe if we are really lucky we get a Delon Wright quality player to play backup PG or Charles Bassey backup C.

We are a win now team, so if we get Beal or Middleton, we player less DDV or TJ or Dilly or Conley or JMcD or Naz. Players need to compete for minutes. Basically, getting talent is the main concern and the minutes will work itself out or we make another trade.

If MIN want to help Beringer/Zikarsky to develop I'd sign Caleb Houstan to provide that spacing and ball movement in 3rd unit

I like Caleb Houston for the minimum but we have bigger needs at PG and C if they are only going to use 14 roster spots.
He absolutely killed us one game last year.

I'm going to go on record that Beringer is going to be a solid backup C before the playoffs come.

Re: Around the NBA (Part Three)
Powell to Heat, Collins to Clippers, Slo-Mo and K Love to Jazz along with cap space and a 2nd round pick.
That looks like a win/win/win trade. Collins was a backup plan if Randle/Naz left in free agency.
Telegraphing that Beal is going to sign with the Clippers when he gets bought out?
Maybe if Slo-Mo gets bought out he would come back here for the minimum and Finch would have his security blanket back.
Would take TJ's minutes though.
Has only one guaranteed year left.
I don't know how cooked he is but Utah is desperate to tank this year with 4 elite talents at the top of the draft and their pick going to OKC if it's 9 or later.

Jazz opening up cap space for Johnathan Kuminga?
They can make up to 22 million in space now or use a 26 million TPE.

Our big men need to stay healthy or its going to be ugly.
Jaden is our next best option at the backup 4 in a small lineup if someone gets hurt and he can have foul issues.
I don't expect more than Luka Garza minutes from Beringer and I'm more bullish than most on Rocco being able to contribute early after 2 years playing against grown men in the Australian League. He ran the 3 point shooting drills at the combine and didn't embarrass himself.
I think we got really lucky his coach in the NBL didn't want to play him or he would have been a 1st round pick.
Of course I could be wrong and its apparent right away he doesnt have the agility to defend at this level.

Or you play Slo-Mo as undersized bigman to backup Rudy/Reid?

How about KLove came back to play center? Although, he will most likely end up with Lakers.
Overall it just sucks that big market team could have no cap space and not even using their own money to get these expensive buyout guys. I want to see Beal go to Bucks instead. Why didn't Bucks trade Lillard for Beal, then let Suns buyout Lillard. Sure there is the no trade clause Beal got for power play.

Just to be clear, here is our big rotation:
PF: Randle/Naz/Anderson/Miller
C: Gobert/Joan/Anderson/Miller/Rocco/J Edwards
Meanwhile this is our PG rotation
PG: Conley (38,)/ Dilly (20,)/ DDV (not a PG.) Seems like the excellent roster construction we so badly craved last season. Especially now that NAW is gone.

Beringer is young and improving daily. By the end of the season he will be an integral part of our rotation.
I hope you are right about Rocco. I see some Rik Smits in him, but I don't in any way expect him to be used more than Beringer.

Lets be real, our rotation is going to be the same as last year except with TJ, Rob, and Jaylen Clark splitting up the 25 minutes per game that NAW gave us.
Going off of last year's regular season minutes per game total,
And giving the returning 7 rotation players their minutes per game allocation from last year:
PF/C 96 Minutes
Gobert 33
Randle 32
Naz Reid 28
Remaining: 3 minutes
SG/SF 96 Minutes
McDaniels 32
Edwards 36
Divencenzo 14
Shannon 14
PG (48 minutes)
Conley 24
Divencenzo 12
Dillingham 12
So with the 3 extra minutes you can give Beringer a quick run or slide Jaden down to the 4 and give TJ a few extra minutes.
Dante probably deserves a bump on his 26 mpg from last year too.
Extra minutes for Rob, TJ, and Dante are likely going to have to come from playing Conley less.
