Continental Chaos Play-In (durantbird advances)

Post#1 » by GeorgeMarcus » Sun Jul 6, 2025 12:46 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Jrue Holiday 24' - 10.0 - North American, non All NBA
SG: Kawhi Leonard 17' - 17.7 - North American, All NBA
SF: Andrei Kirilenko 05' - 10.2 - Asian
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo 21' - 18.0 - European
C: Kristaps Porzingis 24' - 13.2 - European

Bench: Steve Kerr 97' - 5.7 - Additional non North American (Asian)
Bench: Andre Iguodala 16' - 5.7 - North American, non All NBA
Bench: Serge Ibaka 12' - 7.4 - African

Rotation:
PG: Jrue Holiday 32 / Steve Kerr 16
SG: Kawhi Leonard 38 / Andre Iguodala 10
SF: Andrei Kirilenko 32 / Andre Iguodala 16
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo 38 / Serge Ibaka 6 / Andrei Kirilenko 4
C: Kristaps Porzingis 30 / Serge Ibaka 18

87.9/88

vs

PG: Luka Doncic (40)/ Joe Ingles (8)
SG: Drazen Petrovic (38)/ Joe Ingles (10)
SF: Shane Battier (36)/ Royce O'Neale (12)
PF: Victor Wembanyama (38)/ Royce O'Neale (10)
C: David Robinson (40)/ Dikembe Mutombo (8)

Matchup
- Defensive assignments: Kawhi vs Luka, Kirilenko vs Petrovic, Holiday vs Battier and helps on Luka/Petrovic, Giannis vs Robinson, Porzignis vs Wemby.
- Our insane defense enables us to put prime Kawhi and Kirilenko on the Luka-Drazen duo, with Holiday being free to help on them (!). Giannis and Porzingis provide size and versatility against Wemby and Robinson, with Ibaka complementing them off the bench. We got much less weak spots to look for, while we can hunt Luka and Petrovic.
- Giannis and Kawhi form a superb leading two offensively, with Porzingis Holiday a combo that already worked great as complementary stars in Boston, and Kirilenko as a fifth All Star level guy in our lineup. We have the tools to punish any weak defender.
- Iggy and Ibaka complement our defense intensity perfectly, with Kerr fitting nicely as an automatic sniper.

Roster Year FGA
Luka Doncic 2022 20.6 - MVP (5), All-NBA (1)
Victor Wembanyama 2024 16.7 DPOY (2)
Shane Battier 2009 5.9
Dikembe Mutombo 2005 3
Joe Ingles 2017 5.5
Drazen Petrovic 1993 16.2 All-NBA (3)
David Robinson 1992 15.8 MVP (3), DPOY (1)
Royce O'Neale 2019 4.2

Total FGA 87.9/88

Rotation
PG: Luka Doncic (40)/ Joe Ingles (8)
SG: Drazen Petrovic (38)/ Joe Ingles (10)
SF: Shane Battier (36)/ Royce O'Neale (12)
PF: Victor Wembanyama (38)/ Royce O'Neale (10)
C: David Robinson (40)/ Dikembe Mutombo (8)

Defensive Assignments: Robinson on Giannis, Wembanyama on Porzingis, Battier on Kawhi, Luka on AK47, Petrovic on Jrue

- The lack of spacing for our opponent is going to hinder their offense against our rim protection.
- Robinson/Wembanyama/Battier is better than Porzingis/Giannis/Ak47
- Luka/Robinson Pick&Roll is the most lethal offensive action of the two teams, with Wemby in the dunkers spot as a 7'4" finisher
- Petrovic is a much better 3rd option than older Jrue/Porzingis/AK47
- Giannis is going to struggle attacking the paint against David Robinson/Victor Wembanyama

RK has a more reliable offense and I don't think Giannis benefits from the matchup of front court giants. On the other hand, db's defense is just insane with excellent counters for Luka and friends. Very torn but I think I know what I must do

I didn't like the Wemby pick. Good Game.

I think your team was one of the best. Great job building around Luka-Wemby.
