People realize we still need to build out an actual roster of capable NBA players, right? I like Rollins a lot but the dude has 900-minutes of NBA experience to this point (he's played less than half of the 2024 rookie class). You've basically got three playable guards in your rotation if Rollins is just kind of a 15-20 minute guy, and it's generous to say we even have a true "point guard" on the roster. We've also got two guys who everyone here (somewhat rightfully) doesn't trust in any potential playoff lineups. I'd honestly take both Brogdon and Smart on the minimum. Beal obviously if we can somehow swing it, but we're still firmly in "beggars can't be choosers" mode right now unless there's a Kuzma trade still out there that brings in a legit upgrade on the wing.

We have plenty of capable nba players.
All we gotta do now is trade kuzma and NOT sign garbage-ass thanasis, and we'll be golden.

Add whatever name you want. Most of these others (not Grimes) are low cost.

Ok cool, I was just curious if that ship had sailed and I missed something. I do agree that he would be the most challenging of the group. Like the idea of a poll though!

Haha but in all seriousness that Dame move has to come first so it somehow must be done but just not logged or announced yet.
Cap guru Keith Smart says waivers sometimes hit the wire later in the day even if they're filed earlier.

No, but I am a "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" fan. The limerick writer for that show is pretty good. Bill Kurtis, by the way, has been a Chicago fixture for decades and did the local 10 o'clock news on the CBS affiliate way back in the 1980s.

We have absolutely zero lead-guard depth. It's while I certainly don't like the idea of 40-year old Chris Paul, I at least understand why the rumors are there.

Summary of Fischer/Stein's latest on guards the Bucks may or may not be interested in:
https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2025/07/free-agent-rumors-guards-kuminga-pacers-hayes.html
An expectation that Bradley Beal will soon become an unrestricted free agent is affecting the markets for free agent guards Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and Malcolm Brogdon, who are drawing interest from many of the same teams, writes Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (Substack link).
According to Fischer, the Clippers, Lakers, Bucks, and Timberwolves are among the teams expected to have interest in signing Beal if and when he finalizes a buyout agreement with the Suns, which seems increasingly likely. A previous report also identified the Warriors as a possible suitor for Beal, with the Heat viewed as less likely after their trade for Norman Powell.
The Clippers and Bucks are known to have interest in Paul, Fischer points out, so if Beal ends up with one of those teams, it would likely rule that club out for CP3, perhaps increasing the odds of the 40-year-old reuniting with the Suns.
As for Brogdon, he has the Clippers, Suns, Lakers, Warriors, Timberwolves, and Bucks are also among the teams that have registered some level of interest in him, along with the Pelicans and Kings, Fischer reports.
Free agents like De’Anthony Melton and Ben Simmons may also find themselves involved in this game of backcourt musical chairs, according to Fischer, who suggests that their potential landing spots should become more clearer once one or two of those top guards – starting with Beal – finds a new home.

Yeah, we had to have bought out Micic, too.

I'd like the Brogdon signing if we didn't also get Gary Harris. That one was so superfluous. I don't get it. We could have pulled the trigger on that at the end, if everything else fell thru. Now we'd have serious positional/role redundance.
The Harris signing's going to make even less sense if we get Beal. And then we have another creative engine, so less need for another pg. We have POA defenders & guys who can guard down.

Alec Burks would be another good depth get as a big vet guard who can shoot and handle, is he still out there?

Gary Harris seems like he's taking the Pat role of good chemistry guy that'll rack up DNP-CD's but will be there to step in if you need a change of pace in a game or when someone goes down. I don't expect him to be much of a regular contributor.

Yeah, it seems like hes a pretty big liability on offense. At near AJax levels, just going off of OLebron. That metric is not kind if all you can do is kinda shoot.
His defense looks good so maybe hes just situational. I know there's the agent theory with him but looking past that, i dont think its bad to have a plus defender on the team with experience especially if he can guard wings.

The Suns will be crucified after they stretch Beal right? That’s way worse than us stretching Dame

You'd think. Dame is out for at least one year, so it makes sense and there was a reason it was brought up as an option almost immediately after the injury.
Beal is healthy and generally did fine when healthy last year, and they just traded away KD thus easing a bit of the logjam on their wing. So there's a bit of why do this even if it does get you under some cap levels. You'd be able to get below them easier in the future when he's off the books earlier, and who knows what kind of trade you might be able to get him in later on if he stays healthy leading up to the deadline

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - Rollins Back, 3/$12 million
Most of these guys have something to add offensively, but what about defense:
Beal- never known as a defender-
Paul- after being one of the best defensive guards in the league, he's been cooked for quite a while
Smart- I think he was always a bit overrated as a defender, but still an upgrade for the Bucks-
Brogdon- smart defender, but I think he's lost quite a bit- never healthy is biggest concern
Grimes- good size and debate on here on how good his defense really is- his cost is way more than any of these guys and he hasn't proven himself over a decent period to warrant 25 million a year. Low ball him and see if he signs and Sixers match?
Kuminga- I have no idea abouth his defense, but I'm guessing not very good.
