Attention =! commendation

But I sure hope your fantasy exercise of taking a neutral statement and turning it into a hypebeast narrative (same thing you're doing with idea of Lillard being back post-ASB) proves to be true here. It will be very good for Miami if Nick Arison is some sort of FO savant that has been limited by other factors despite being in a top decisionmaking role for over 10 years. My educated assumption is that Nick has his fingerprints over all of those "other factors", though.

It’s not that serious lol

Didn't suggest it was any level of serious--just commentary. Apologies if bringing thought and accountability to the equation makes you uncomfortable.

Nick's been the boss of Riley for awhile now in the franchise hierarchy. It was Nick who championed for Winslow w his ties to Duke while Riley really liked his Kentucky guy in Devin Booker.
Idk how much Riley fought for Booker when Justise slipped and idk if the younger Nick had the overrule power (usually the Heat FO goes w the consensus as I understand) without being the fly on the wall. But I'm fairly certain if Winslow didn't fall to 10, we have Booker here. Also, without Nick's Duke ties, maybe the FO would had been more inclined to take those 4 first round picks from Boston and move up from Boston's 16 to 12th or 13th and still select Booker using a couple of those picks?

I really do believe that 4 1st round pick story was nonsense. When have you ever really seen a trade like that happen before for a draft pick that late?

It was actually offered to Charlotte for their 9th pick and Charlotte declined and infamously selected Frank Kamisky, another greak pick by Michael Jordan, lol. There are reports out there if you search.

Heat don't leak info but I believe if Boston was willing to offer 4 firsts and 2 seconds for 9th, I'm sure they'd offer the almost same package for 10th when their target, Winslow, was still available. But maybe Ainge hates Riley so much, he doesn't do the deal, who knows, lol.

That lines up with some of my assumptions. Makes sense. Nick has done a masterful job of staying out of the limelight (and thus the line of fire). Pat being larger than life has helped.

Beal doesn't fit. Didn't really fit before and the fit would be even way more clunky now.

Maybe it really is true but damn that's a lot just for a 9th or 10th pick lol.

It's basically one pick swap (9/10th and 16th) and 3 future - most likely low first round - picks. I guess Boston rated Window as a top prospect that year like many did.

Maybe a Jerami Grant for Terry ?

Fun facts :
- The Miami Heat surpassed the Knicks in championships
- Only the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and Spurs have more championships

You just know Riley didn’t want to have to deal with Ainge on this one, but it was a deal that couldn’t be passed up.

Clippers worked the deal out. Doubt we had very much communication with Utah. We got a Clippers player back. Clippers forwarded our players and cap savings to Utah

Wiggins, JJJ, Highsmith, Larrson, and Fonteccio is a massive glut at the SF wing spot.
