Fontecchio seems a lot better than D. Robinson.
A lot of athleticism for a european player.

Heat building a competitive team even if they stay without any other trades.

But it seems they will do some moves more

I get where you're coming from and share some of the same sentiment. But, I also just see this as the type of value-add asset management at the margins that leads to more optionality for creating and finding value on potential subsequent moves.

Fair enough. I just don't see any direction. And I'd rather be in a situation where we are either really bad in a year with a great draft or somebody makes a leap to get this team to overperform. The top 4 of this draft is supposedly really good. Better than last year. Might be Heat's best chance to get a no 1. Cuz they don't really have a plan on how to get that guy

Maybe you will get your wish by default, I dont think we will be too good this upcoming season. This organization do not like tank, and we have to deal with that one way or another.

I wish but I doubt it. That's thing this trade. It raises the team floor but not their ceiling. Their ceiling is a 1st round exit, Norman Powell isn't good enough to get them to round 2.
But he is good enough to add some extra wins so they finish 6th at best or in the 7 - 8 play in range. I imagine for next season its gonna be Cavs, Knicks as top 2 seeds. Then Bucks, Hawks, Celtics, Magic (if healthy) for 3- 6 and Heat would be in the play in tier
Next year is probably a repeat of past 2 seasons: play in + 1st round exit. So yeah I don't get the excitement for this trade

Very nice trade.. Powell is a good player.. sure it doesn’t make us a contender but to get Powell for love and slo mo, you do that trade everyday of the week and twice on Sundays

While I like the trade, I dont like seeing a bunch of people on twitter penciling him and Herro in as starting guards.

We have seen Herro tried at pg multiple times. It just doesnt work. A few minutes here and there is fine, but he is just not a point guard. He turns it over way too much and cant defend the position. I see a super sixth man role for Powell, and Im good with that since we didnt give up much to get him, and he will not be here long term. Davion is a much better fit with Herro starting.

Maybe if Wiggins goes we can try SF, though at 6-4 he might not work there either.

Riley shut me up… and you know what? I love it.

Slo Mo and Love for Powell who is a proven scorer who is coming off a career year, expiring going into a contract season?

I love it.

If you can keep Wiggins and get something of similar value to today’s trade with Terry and Jaquez…. We got a squad…

Heat continues to build around Herro, Bam and Ware, Mitchell and Powell are great complementary peices to those three. Ball handling shooting and press defense.

I wonder if we can somehow get an all star talent for Roziers expiring, JJJ, Jovic and all of our picks.

This supporting roster is prime for an all star to be a contender

Ware
Bam (Jovic)
Wiggins Powell
Herro (JJJ) Larson
Mitchell Smith Kaspa (Terry)

Wow, did not see that coming. Looks like we got a Terry and Duncan replacement all in one.

Fantastic move. Cost us absolutely nothing and we get a guy who can either start or 6th man it and put up numbers. Love it.

Interesting that the Heat would put themselves back into the tax...what avenues do they have to fill out the roster and cut salary?

Its unknown how Dumars value Murphy. The previous front office wanted a kings ransom for Murphy. He is a good player but not someone you build around. He's a complement player.

Trade pawns. Heat are banking that a team when be in a bind and have to give up a player for cap relief

Powell is a great addition to the team. He may play SG/SF in a reserve role. He is a better defender than Herro and better passer than Wiggins while bringing his high level scoring ability. Powell will definitely be a valuable piece and he really elevated that Clippers team last year.

A few things I'm looking at....

Rozier's $26.6 mil expiring contract

Wiggins $30 mil player option for '26-'27

14 main roster spots filled...Heat currently over tax line

The team has added ball handlers. Last season it was Rozier, Burks and Duncan handling the ball in support of Herro. Now the Heat have Mitchell, Powell and Jakucionis. Last season Jaquez and Larsson wasnt ready to help with the ball handling, hopefully there is positive production from botho of them in the ball handling area along with Jukacionis and the two vets in Mitchell and Powell.

Rozier for Derozan straight up works…

Rozier on 26.6
Derozan on 24.7

Thats 1.9 million less .. kings get their expiring

wiggins for expirings will happen…
