CJ McCollum for Jalen Green

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Sun Jul 6, 2025 5:42 pm

The Suns get a better fitting player that helps them win now. Also an expiring that saves a few million.

Wizards take on the potential and contract of Green, who can get a better shot in a better situation for him.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

The two Houston outcasts finding their way back to the same team to hypothetically live out their potential would be funny to see.

However, Washington declines without significant incentive.

Maybe if Ace Bailey had fallen to Wash, but they don’t have a need for him now with Tre Johnson.

Not a bad idea, but Wash should fully invest in Tre J/Kispert moving forward

The Wizards got out of the Jordan Poole business, why would they want back in?

Trading Poole for McCollum just to trade McCollum for another Poole would be absolutely hilarious.

Exactly.

The Wizards just drafted Tre Johnson. It would be insane for them to acquire a SG who is owed $105M over the next 3 years.

I'd trade McCollum and Kispert for Beal if Phoenix threw in Maluach.

Don't see any team offering an expiring for him. Still don't see why Phx settled for him

They didn’t seem to have much of a choice. What a poorly run organization.

Still nonsensical to me, especially if they give Booker the rumored 75 mil a year extension. I wouldn't touch Green for Dallas unless they'd accept Klay, Hardy and one of Martin or Naji

Nope. The Wizards have no interest. They like 100 million in cap room in 2026.

I think Beal would only allow that with his no trade clause if we bought him out for a higher figure than Phoenix will. Phoenix wouldn't do this though.

Love this idea.

Nah - Suns pass. I think Jalen Greens youth, athleticism, and speed will be a big asset for the Suns this year.

I think Suns want Green. I think they see him having some value and fit.

Good thing about Green is he does defend. Maybe Booker can teach him how to be an efficient scorer.

Do the Suns even want expiring contracts? They're so capped out they'd just be unable to replace the player.

Obviously McCollum is probably better for this year but then he can go wherever he wants in the relatively flush cap space season of 2026.
