As much as my socialist heart rebels against this... this is more in line with the real drivers of success in the NBA. It's a star-driven league. The money SHOULD go to the top, and if we didn't have artificial max salaries we'd see way more of it go there.

The nice thing about the cap inflation is that fringe guys can now make life-changing money even if they only last a year or two in the league. And the middle class, as much as they are being driven towards the MLE - that MLE is now worth pretty much what the Heatles were making as superstar players, so overall there's a lot of money there for the bulk of the league even with superstar salaries driving towards their worth.

Never understood people balking at the money superstars get.

People don’t realize how much revenue they generate for their franchises.

The superstars of the league are bringing in atleast 100M of revenue a year for their respective teams.

If they do, why do I have to look at so many damn ads on the court and listen to so many pleas for me to gamble?

I would prefer they be paid less so I don't have to look at ads on the court. I prefer the "hair on the court" to the gambling ads

Even then we are nowhere near their level of incompetence. Botched three lottery picks that could’ve positioned themselves nicely post-Curry. Instead they are clinging onto what they have, doubling down on a really old core.

Our title run was always going to come to an end because of the age of our players and the fact Kawhi was a rental. Even the year after our championship, some didn’t even have us making the playoffs.

Draymond Green’s words on this free agency and the new CBA in general.

July 7th, 2025
Dear Diary,
I’m sitting in my mancave having a conversation with my wife. Baffled at the fact that NBA free agency is over. Quite frankly it never really started. The level of anticipation leading up to July 1st were as exciting as the fireworks on the 4th. It was the excitement of the NBA Finals yet only a week after watching a team spray champagne and ride on floats.
One can only point to the “New CBA” and the 2nd apron(hard cap) for absolutely putting an end to Free Agency

As we once knew it.
Sadly, I sit here and watch so many players overplay the market and not understand what they are up against with the new rules. Which leads me to trying to understand the unstaggering percentage of guys that has no idea of THE BUSINESS they are apart of. And I as a “VET” in this league watch players mismanage their careers and before they know it, look back like DAMN, where to next? I can go so far with this but I really don’t feel like typing it all right now. Because,

there’s so many arms to this topic. An Insane amount and then add in my personal experience with it. I have what I think is an extremely unique perspective on this. I am obviously a player, a former amazing general manager is one of my close friends. I am very close with previous owners and current ones. I was introduced to the business at 16 by Joe D, so yeah all that to say, it’s interesting to watch and also be apart of. Maybe I’ll write some long piece, or maybe I’ll just do a podcast lol.

But regardless of where I decide to let these thoughts out, I should’ve been the Players association president lol. I could’ve helped a lot.

The league is great, it’s been great to all of us. Amazing partnership amongst players, staff, front office, ownership, and Fans that make the well oiled machine soar. And rightfully so, but it’s baffling to me how little players know about this business and how it affects them and ways most don’t understand. Funny thing is, I said this before the last CBA.

"Dear diary,

Free agency and the CBA, let's get right into it: Are you not also absolutely baffled how silly stupid everyone else out there is and how extraordinarily clever, handsome and well endowed (yes, that too) I am? Maybe I'll write a longer piece (hahaha) about that one day.
In fact, considering my superior intelligence and experience, my skillset, and the absolute studfest of world leaders waiting daily at my door for their audience, I am uniquely positioned to write a piece about anything and everything on this great earth. With content, of course; one day. For now, however, this will suffice, as I am eager to spend the day lovingly gazing in the mirror, basking in my aura of sheer brilliance and humility.

Yours in perfection,
Daymond"

What ? Raptors homers would say they already made their homework in signing Butler back in February. (Raptors, Ingram etc).
Warriors are not in a position where they have to do something. Just wait, give then a full season with JB, Curry and Dray. They will probably change things at the Deadline again.

West is deep. Butler likely missing lots of games.. I see them as a play in team at best, even with Hartford.

I’m not a Draymond fan but I do recall when the cba was being negotiated and ratified he was against the new cba. He said in real time the negative consequences and he has been proven correct. He’s taking his I told ya so victory lap now.

These are the same thoughts I had. It's truly been mind boggling watching the moves or lack thereof after their last championship. Moody, Kuminga and Podziemski weren't worth keeping for longterm success and should have been packaged for veteran help. Kuminga being the make or break trade piece only to end up here. SMH

Don't lump Podz in there with Kuminga and Moody. He's starting and their 4th best player.
