Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
The Grizz are supposed to be buying out Cole Anthony, and I think he'd be a great pickup for Miami. I am going to assume GPII is going to re-sign with Golden State, but if not I'd be after him. I still think Miami should pursue Lillard. Thomas Bryant as a backup C makes sense if Miami can't trade for a C.
And, again, I'd be looking to move Herro, Wiggins, and Rozier. Would Rozier for Vucevic be doable?
Mitchell / Anthony OR GPII / Lillard
Herro / Powell
Wiggins / Highsmith / Jaquez
Bam / Jovic
Ware / ???

Probably because JA hasn't been that all nba guy in a while and the one time he was asked not to be ball dominant he complained and.the.coach and assistant whos system that was got fired, replaced with a coach that will be running the offense through ja once again. So im not sure where his willingness to play off ball or not being ball dominant comes from.SA37 wrote:batterybro42 wrote:I really like pairing Powell with Wiggins at the 2-3
Guys I’d target for Herro outgoing
Trae Young
Lamelo Ball
Ja
You put one of those guys on the team with two lob threats and defensive minded wings who can shoot the ball and you have something going. Ja would go insane with this group.
Lamelo Ball I think is gettable from Charlotte, he’s in my opinion a top 10 player in the NBA and everybody will act all shocked about it once he’s actually coached.
No interest in Ball. I don't get why this board is obsessed with getting one of the Ball brothers.
Trae Young is too ball-dominant for my taste, but he is clutch.
Ja is all-NBA caliber and has shown he can play at a high level without being ball-dominant. I don't see why Memphis would trade him.

Actually scratch that, I sort of get it with Herro. It’s because people can see his ceiling, and with a Trae Young or LaMelo or Ja, there is no ceiling so they can go wild fantasizing about what they could be rather than what they are, even if they’ve never shown any evidence they’ll get near that level consistently.
It reminds me of 15 years ago and all the Dorell and Beasley apologists because of what they “could be”, except in this case the daydreaming is over other teams used goods.

Raptors fan here. Been following Norms career pretty closely even after the raps. You guys got a good one.
I noticed some discussion about his defense, even for us he wasn't a great POA defender. His tools all felt like he should have been, and it wasn't an effort thing, he just wasn't great at it. Above average at best. And that was back with us. I think hes about an average defender now. He wont hurt you, especially if you arent using him as your best POA defender, but offense and bucket getting is definitely more his calling card.

Heat with 4 allstars in Bam, Herro, Wiggs and Norm.

For the cost, the acquisition is a steal. Literally no-one of consequence, no draft compensation, and no limit to future flexibility.

Bam for Giannis in-coming. . .
I would prefer to send Herro to MIL and keep Bam.
Can you imagine a lineup with Giannis at SF, Bam at PF, and Ware at C?
If Bam’s truly the better player perceived around the league we’d give up less in a trade than w/ Herro is my thinking. Bam’s defence is as lethal as Herro’s scoring - wld depend on what/who we value more & further cost attached to each player.
I dont think this is even a question. Herro doesnt have the value many think he has. Bam might be a little overpaid, but his archtype is extremely valuable to any contender.

Fantastic move. I didn't think a player like Powell would be available for Miami's end-of-the-bench fodder. I am even more shocked I haven't heard any bitching and complaining about Powell being 32 or stealing time from Larsson and Bronny.
Let's get Herro, Rozier, and Wiggins dealt.
Yes but glad they finally made a good move, wish we could’ve found some moves like this in the Jimmy era when we were competing for championships

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
Can we stop with the agenda nonsense?
Bam is our best overall player at present. He's the linchpin to our offense and defense and, while he has his own limitations, appears to be expanding his offense to better suit our needs going forward. His passiveness is what holds him back from being a perennial All-NBA player - which should be his aim going forward. He has the talent and skills to be it, which is what frustrates fans at times.
Herro is, without question, our best bucket getter and offensive player. You don't average 24/5/5 in the NBA unless you are legit. He has made huge strides with his efficiency and playmaking, but has had issues when the going gets tougher in the postseason. This is due to physical limitations and a lack of other playmakers around him to give him relief. He needs to continue to work on his body to get stronger and become a better defender and improve his deficiencies on that end of the court.
Both are massive successes for their respective draft positions at #13 and #14 overall, and crowning achievements for our player development and coaching staff.
Despite this, we're talking about the NBA. Luka Doncic just got traded. No one is untouchable and for the right deal, either of these guys are on the block. That's the reality of playing in this league.

Should we send out Terry and a 2nd for Vuc to be our backup 5 and get us out of the tax?

That is a great idea and trade, but doubt the Bulls want to get rid of starting Vuc's expiring for Backup Terry's expiring unless more is offered like 2-3 future 2nds or something. Would love to see Vuc next to Bam.

Terry and 2nd for Smart and the few million in cap savings has been on my mind. Then we can just resign Thomas Bryant

Swapping out Rozier for something useful has to be the priority now. Looks like the Heat have a 2027 2nd to offer up.

We’re definitely up to something, my hope would be that we get Terry and Wiggins out of here. Both for someone serviceable and hopefully in Wiggins case with an asset
