i think the vet has to be under 10 years too. it's the 2.something m vet min left.

The 10+ year vets get paid more but for cap purposes all vet minimum deals impact the exact same regardless of years of service.

thank you. couldn't remember if the cap holds varied.

you're welcome.

You cannot confuse that bust Bagley with Bagely and schmear his good name like that.

Smart can still defend. He's only 31 and would certainly give us another tough physical guy.

Not sure what you are expecting with a vet minimum type contract but you can certainly do a lot worse than Smart.

He can be PJ Tucker only that can actually still play

I’m sure but if nobody is offering it to him then he might have to just take what he can get

If I was him, I’d look to come to a winning situation and see if I could contribute to a ring. I don’t know what kind of personality Chris has. Maybe NY isn’t for him.

I think this is just rumor mill stuff

I’d love to see what the 5 guard offense can do.

Brunson
Lillard
Clarkson
Deuce
Kolek

Beal probably not interested in NY. It could explain Knicks’ interest in Smart. It’s a shame though. The Knicks starting lineup needs another ball handler/shot creator/3pt shooter. Beal would’ve solved all 3 issues.

He'd be Bridges. The shooting ability would take him away from rebounding and he wouldn't be relentless with his motor.

The only problem with the Bridges pickuo is that we didn't think he would be so anti-Thibs. We thought he woukd fall into his college role with Nova forgetting hebwas the highest draft pick of them all and had the ego to go with it. He wasn't just going to fit in to his old college role.

Having watched both as a Raptors fan, I rate Precious above Boucher. Not sure where money fits in though
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

With Brogdon being in such high demand from top teams, I’d imagine Smart would be too. We’d be lucky at this point to get either one. Might even be considered lucky to sign Simmons at this point. It’s worth the shot if it’s just a min contract…

How about expanding the /L.A Clippers /Miami heat/ Utah Jazz trade where, both Knicks and Houston get on this trade

Knicks get

Walker Kessler
Kevin love

Why for the Knicks ?

We get that missing piece we lost when Hartenstein left
And now we get a nice Robinson/Kessler combo . Also gives us more flexibility if Giannis becomes available where we would still have a starting center if Robinson get included in any trade .
Kevin love would bring us some Vet leadership and spot up Minutes as a stretch 4. But ultimately Kevin Love is an expiring contract. I don’t see Dadiet getting any minutes since we have Hart / Mikal , Og . McBride had a disappointing season starting in a few games . He was given minutes to shine and didn’t shine . McBride is better suited as a 8-9 th man for a playoff team not a 6th man

Utah get

Reed Sheppard

Utah is now in rebuild and they would get a point guard who has potential is 21 years old. I don’t see Utah re signing Kessler. Kevin love will walk after the end of the season

Houston get

Tyler Kolek
Miles McBride
Pacome Dadiet
Future first via Utah

Why for Houston ?

Reed Sheppard is right now on the wrong timeline for his career by playing for the Rockets. Mikes McBride is more ready to help and can give you defense and scoring .

Pacome Dadiet and Tyler Kolek would be players they can slowly develop and stash away. Houston also will receive a future first top 3 protected via Utah

Knicks refuse to do anything about the center depth, they better hope Huk can contribute in the rotation because Mitch won't be healthy the whole season and just having one other 7 footer in KAT is not going to cut it.

I like Yabuty but him being a small ball 5 is only a match up situational thing, not something you want to employ every game because of an injury.

If they dont sign or trade for a more defensive 4/5, it could signal a potential seismic shift in x and o philosophy next year. That could be good or bad. Mitch is just way to injury prone and KAT is better utilized in many other ways than rim protection.

Smart is a perfect counter balance to Brunson. Short of Ben Simmons, that is exactly the type of guy you would love to get when you are trying to navigate the 2nd Apron.
