grant looks like he might be ready for season opener. he's still got 3 months.

he is genuinely one of my untouchables on this team. i might have sold myself on a fairytale, but something about him feels like the engine of this team. he is the vocal leader and physical defender we need.

I felt the same way pre-injury but that was a pretty significant surgery. Hopefully he can regain his form and I believe he's got a couple years left on his deal but I could see us moving on once his contract is up or trying to trade him next year as an expiring.

Hey if this is your first post ever here, welcome to the forum SurgicalGM! Agree Williams’s injury isn’t easy to come back from. Encouraging to see him shooting, but the running, cutting and physical play will need to be there to come back.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Last year we got 27 games from Brandon Miller, 16 from Grant Williams and 13 from Tre Mann.

If we get a decent season from those three guys that is a lot of help.

Add to that a vet center (plumblee), a vet pg (dinwiddie), a good draft pick at sg (kon)

It is almost like we are a real boy!

Still feels like we will end up in about the same spot as last season

Cavs
Knicks
Magic
Pistons
Celtics
Hawks

Are certainly better than us

Then you got the "probably betters" that will also be looking to compete

76ers
Bucks
Bulls
Heat
Raptors

It's possible to finally catch lighting in a bottle, buy I'm gonna start lookin at 2026 drafts top 7 already.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

It all depends on health. If we're healthy, we should have a top 5 offense in the East which should be enough to make the playin. Not many teams have our scoring depth, like we've talked about earlier.

If we aren't healthy, we'll end up putting...

Dinwiddie
Green
Kon
Miles
Moussa

... type lineups out there, which will be pretty bad. Not nearly as bad as this year was, but still bottom 5 in the East.

Very much a boom or bust type season.

I think the top 4 teams are pretty clear:
Magic
Cavs
Knicks
Hawks

Good teams:
Celtics (may drop more, they lost a lot of good players)
Pistons (lost a few good rotation guys)
Heat (because they're always at least respectable)

Wildcards:
76ers (if healthy, they'll be better than Atlanta. If not, they'll be tanking)
Bucks (if Giannis goes nuts, they'll be better than Atlanta. If not, Giannis is probably a deadline trade deal.)

Who knows
Bulls (they've been in no mans land for years)
Toronto (talented on paper, but weird fits)

That's 11 teams.

Clear tankers:
Nets
Wizards
Indiana (may not tank, but I doubt they can compete without Hali and Turner)

And lastly, us. I suppose I'd put us in the "who knows" group.

I hope we at least asked Washington if they were interested in Nick Smith Jr. could have done him and Okogie to make salaries match

Yep, calling it now…Jeffie is done trying to add any meaningful players. His entire focus is to unload the packed clown car of guards he over accumulated. The FA and trade market exploded, and everything was happening fast. He made some good deals, no doubt. Now the party’s over and time to clean up the mess.

Doubtful he’s found any takers for Okogie so he won’t be getting a contract. Thats a shame as we have few strong defenders. If he can’t find any other trading partners, eating contracts will become necessary.

I am sure the brain trust could have made a good consolidation trade by now, but I believe they’re stubbornly holding on to those draft assets. Peterson is using his slow motion development plan as job security. But I do think the owners got sick and tired of the YMCA rotations last year and pushed hard for some real NBA players. If the road to the playin is rocky this season, Jeffie may regret not taking advantage of market opportunities and the opening for competition in the East. BTW, who else thinks Plumber is back due to more undue influence from Clifford the dog?

Don’t misunderstand…I am excited to see what these rookies can do, along with Sexton, Dinwiddie and, to a lesser extent, Con with a C. With a mostly healthy group back can they imitate the Pacers style….run run run…and surprise? NOTE: I’m still concerned on how Miller’s recovery is going…no word shared to date.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'm pretty sure Miller is good to go already. The team posted a video of him and LaMelo practicing together about a week ago.
