Spotrac also has him unguaranteed in year 3...
It screams personal to me, the offer is equivalent to opting in + TPMLE next year, that was his absolute floor, I think the report about Pelinka doing him dirty were correct.

Yup. Either DFS just wanted out because if Pelinka and his reported bashing, or he really is badly injured.

It’s DFS vs ayton and the kings backup Pf
Next to Luka you need some elite defensive guards. Exum should have been a priority add over Santi.
On offense Luka, LeBron, Reeves, Ayton are going to be a handful, but you can hunt for two of those guys and if Luka looks to dribble the air out of the ball, Ayton is going to get bored and not be the defensive presence that he can be.
Of course a Reeves for 3-D wing (Wiggins) would solve a bit, but as people said in the other thread (LAC/MIA/UTA) the scoring focused guards really are dime a dozen at the moment.
Exum misses more games than he plays. He would had been a horrible day 1 priority

12-13M per year for DFS is no brainer, together with the fact that the team can have the right to control for 2 more years of DFS after that, make it a very team friendly deal. Not sure what LAL is thinking, or DFS somehow just tried of LAL and determine to leave for HOU.

He was unrestricted free agent. Lakers can’t force him to sign. They offered two years.

Why not offer 2 more unguaranteed years to match HOU's offer? It wont affect the flexibility for the 2027 summer at all.

Why would offering unguaranteed years on the end of a 2 year deal make DFS more likely to sign??? It's making the contract worse for him.

because you can keep DFS under reasonable salary for 2 more years, in which DFS has played decently in LAL,

Was always a huge fan of DFS, from his start to the Mavs to the day he was traded for Kyrie. I still remember his 40+ minutes per game in the Mavs WCF run. The kind of player every team wants. The deal is a steal.
