I guess this is why, good or bad, you don’t want to overreact to a small sample size of games, but I thought Ace Bailey looked great tonight.

For the record, I never said Ace wouldn’t be good. I said he’d be a very good, 3&D role player. Buying into the C&S role will be key for him.

Boy Bailey looked great tonight. Like Edgecombe he's gonna take his lumps, but he's going to be a player in this league. Utah got a good one. Looks a lot bigger than 6'7. Shot looks smooth too. Good for him. No hate. Like I said, there'll be ups and downs for all these rooks.

Tre Johnson at least has positional athleticism and length. Doesn't that give him the clear edge?

Nice game for Ace. I think the story for him will always be that when the shot is falling he looks great but when it’s not he looks awful. His path to stardom is becoming an elite 3pt shooter because that quick release at his height will be a real weapon.

I’ll admit it, we made the wrong pick.
Not sure if you’ve ever heard this before, but the best ability is a-VAIL-ability.

Sensa is a better rebounder, more versatile scorer, and has elite physical tools at 6’5” with a 7’2” wingspan. He averaged 40 points per 100 possessions, a mark only Trae Young and Zion Williamson have reached since 2016. He also shot 50/40/80 with a 58% true shooting percentage. His defense has shown improvement as well and is arguably better than Tre with better stocks numbers (he even blocked VJ on that breakaway dunk).
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Re: 2025 Sixers Summer League
Yeah, even if Ace cant improve as a driver, he has the reach to play center in this league, so he can shoot over people. Like Jailblazers7 said, if he can be pretty good from 3 he will be really good. And his defense potential is insane. I think VJ will be really good too, but i´m worried we will always have that "what if" situation with Ace....

Re: 2025 Sixers Summer League
To be clear, I think VJ was the right pick before, during, and after draft day. He will have a better career than Ace by a comfortable margin and we will all be happy to have him as a Sixer for a long time.
For Ace, I made the Rudy Gay comparison early and stand by it. He will likely have some seasons in the 20+ ppg range but he will be an empty calories scorer that doesn’t fit on a winning team.

He's 6'7 with a 7' wing span, and he's super thin. It's a stretch to have him play the 4 regularly on many teams.
I'm not sure what people were watching pre-draft but yeah he's pretty tall and hits tough shots and is pretty athletic. That's him. He also didn't shoot particularly well in college and wasn't a real defensive difference maker or anything. Good prospect but he really didn't show enough--and did show enough clear weaknesses--to keep him a clear top pick.
To my eyes he definitely doesn't just need to shoot kinda average to be great, like most prospects he has to be really good at his strengths and get better at some of the weak spots too. He has every chance to get there but it's not going to be an easy road and I don't think he has any better chance of being a nice pick than his peers.

Plus a better overall shooter

The moment to moment changes of opinions and mindsets is comical for a while, but they get old quickly.
It's f***king summer league, most of these guys will never see an NBA floor, and yet final judgments are thrown around on a play by play basis.

Watch it JB, that kind of resolute sticking with an opinion you came to after weeks of watching tape and studying players doesn't fly around here. I mean, what if VJ is 2-10 from the floor tonight and Bailey goes off for 30?

To me, Kon and VJ were the most "sure things" in the lottery part of the draft after Flagg. VJ has a higher upside, but Kon is going to be one of those guys that good teams want and need.
