I'm definitely not what anyone would call a Kuzma fan. And I get the fears that Doc is going to play him at SF and he's going to brick threes and cough up the ball a lot. I can't even really refute that. But when I gauge his value right now, and weigh it vs what it could conceivably be after 3 months of disciplined play in a fast, ball moving offense... the gambler in me tells me the play is to wait and hope for that. His main value (to the Bucks) will always be the salary slot. But if his value as a player raises, it unlocks so many more options. And if his value stays the same, everything that is on the table is still available, come January.

I don't really believe in this idea that Kuzma can rehab his value, but if it's at all possible, it definitely isn't gonna happen coming off the bench. That's why I'd rather just dump him for the most useful player/contract we can get. If you're gonna try and fool another team into taking a chance on him, you're basically committing to him starting.

He plays exact like Giannis, if Giannis was terrible at basketball.

Rehabbing his value only means he becomes more valuable to the Bucks and less likely to get traded as Horst will think he has become a winning player. We have to move him now and let him sink or swim somewhere else. He’s too much of a liability now to hamper the rotation. He doesn’t fit with Giannis, he’s out of position on the wing and he’s buried behind 3 way better bigs. I find it hard to believe we’re paying a starting back court less than 10m combined but we’re going to shrink Kuzmas role significantly as the 3rd highest paid player on the team. If Kuzma is a Buck, he’s the starting 3 and playing 28+mpg day 1, he’s gotta go now.

If you're going to pat yourself on the back for that clip, then don't include the link that has the rest of your statement praising Kuzma. :(

Brutal... well, at least Miles can't block his shots anymore.. he looks nice on the drives but then the finishes just.. don't.. quite... hhhh... yeah his career is going to go as his shooting % does like a Ben Simmons situation

Imagine if Horst actually had a brain, and dealt Dame at the deadline? The return, combined with Dame not ruining the team, would have made us an instant contender for years, without $113 million in dead money, we'd still have AJ Johnson, a pick swap, and no Kuzma.

I believe Dame was going to be traded in the offseason for likely more than they could have gotten at the deadline. Additionally, they were in a tight spot as a second Apron team. They had very few options.

My thought on Jay Huff is I have been pitching AJax for Jay Huff all summer.

Not sure why he didn’t play more. I’d gladly take
Him.

Giannis had those playoff series were he barreled dudes suffering offensive fouls and many missed layups/free throws. To fix it he had to slow down, look for passes, pump fake, etc.. good defenses know how not to foul on those drives with quick lay ups (which Kuz was playing to get fouled). He still has the tools to be a rotation player on a playoff team but he has to put work in and I don't know if he's the type to put that work in.

I’d rather see him used in the most beneficial way for the Bucks’ 2025-26 regular season which (as I see it) is off the bench, primarily at PF, but also in specific matchups where the 3 spot could be an option, mostly in minutes that Giannis rests and Jericho Sims isn’t brought in which ultimately means quite limited minutes. If it appears he’s giving consistently good effort on D in shutting down opposing forwards, communicating on D, handling switches well, is successfully attacking the basket in transition opportunities and baseline cuts, plus his corner-3 efficiency noticeably rises in those limited minutes then his playing time overlap with Giannis can increase with Giannis perhaps sliding to the 5 spot more often when Turner is off the court.

In the end, any real value he’ll carry is his salary slot exchange in a trade that likely forfeits the Bucks 1sts (the real trade draw) to bring in a key missing piece. Most likely, the Bucks will have to carry Kyle all of this season and look to exchange his salary with valuable picks in order to try landing a missing roster piece during his contract’s final year. Just got to hope he puts forth as much consistent effort towards improving and fitting his game towards this roster since he’s likely looking at future minimum deals in the NBA or playing overseas once his contract expires if he doesn’t show any signs of consistency and efficiency improvements.

Quality backup. Not particularly nimble or quick and can get off-balance in space, but can play the vertical game at the rim on both ends, has nice shooting touch for a big, and doesn't struggle in straight lines / changing ends.

I agree, but you still need to convince me that Horst was playing ten dimensional chess by knowing Myles Turner would be signed because of this move.

hes going to rehab his value simply running out his contract this year. he'll make even less next year and be an expiring. his value is at its absolute worse right now. its guaranteed to improve. i think we should wait unless something great falls out of the sky and hits us on the head. the alternative of blowing what limited assets we have removing him now is too high a cost for me. if he never plays im still ok keeping him this year

Someone who is enough of a masochist to watch the Sacramento Kings play, explain what has happened to Keegan Murray since his rookie season.

Woof.

So is going from him to Myles Turner worth all that extra money?
