TL/DR, no additional trade is imminent from Boston. Horford is not likely to retire. He'll sign somewhere. Bobby seems to think there's at least some chance he could resign with Boston..and he also thinks Lillard could possibly sign here..

Simons/Niang could still be traded but no deal is imminent. Barring something unforeseen happening, they won't be traded anytime soon.

My 2 cents: We'll get under the 2nd apron but probably not completely under the tax. We're barely over 2nd apron now so it could be just dumping someone like Walsh/Tillman/JD that gets us under the 2nd apron..

thats because no one wants either of them.

Brad **** up in trading for them

This is a little scary. That's like the most basic expectation that you would have for any professional athlete, not a top notch organization like the Cs.

Yikes.

Brad can call it re-structuring instead of rebuilding then.

Call it whatever the **** he wants to....walks like a duck and talks like a duck...

Try and boost that trade value brad.

Maybe you can flip simons for some 3rd stringers.

If flexibility is really the goal, the team needs to be significantly below the second apron so they could actually use some of the exceptions.

Getting a little bit under the apron still means you can't sign players because that would put you back over again.

Niang has been traded twice, just in the past few months. Simons was just traded.

There have been many other trades in recent years involving players who are somewhat similar to Niang and Simons (Like Larry Nance Jr, Nic Batum, PJ Washington, Kyle Anderson, Grant Williams, Simone Fontecchio, Joe Ingles, Kevin Love, Norman Powell, Jalen Green, Terry Rozier, Malik Monk, Zach lavine, Demar Derozan, Jordan Poole, CJ McCollum, etc.)

Both Niang and Simons are good players, on expiring contracts, and are fully healthy. It shouldn't be that hard to move them, if we wanted to.

LAL will have Luka AND Jokic on their roster in 27’.

Book it.

To be honest Jokic is the only guy who I feel will never leave his current spot. Seems like Dirk, foreign player who is extremely loyal. We’ll see.

2027 though you’re going to have the Lakers Clippers Knicks Heat Warriors and Nets all eating good.

I figured the same with Giannis. But I think Luka makes the move to LA easy for Jokic.

Why do people try and make a point look better by adding names.

This tweet only has me thinking, why in the world would any team be preserving cap space for James Harden? Who’s giving Harden the Max in 2027?

Right! Kawhi, Jimmy, Steph, and a couple others on that list will be Horford old. Certainly could contribute but old dudes looking for their final contract is not a historic class.

I think he pretty much said he’s gone. He said the guys will have to step up and into what Al brought (leadership). I can’t remember the exact words but they seemed to me say, “we tried, but he’s not coming back.”

At first it felt like he was trying to keep things on the fence, but he kept talking.

IMO, Brad is more honest in the things he says than DA was, it’s like he doesn’t fully understand how to play the media. He has said a few times he doesn’t know is he should say things, but then he gets to talking and eventually he really just tells it how it is. Go back and listen at any of his interviews, you’ll hear him tell everything that’s going to happen and you’ll realize how honest the man has been. Maybe he hasn’t been in it long enough, maybe Danny was like that too in the beginning, but he hasn’t said anything that hasn’t come true yet. I’m not saying the man can’t lie, but he may need to get better at it.

Once everything is done, I’m going to look back at this presser and I’m sure I’ll hear him saying exactly what happened, because it has been that way in the past.

I don’t understand. I was told by people on this thread that they needed to get under the luxury tax and waste two years of Browns prime to save money. What happened? Brad lying?

SO he traded Kristaps and Jrue at well below their market value to "make the team better"

Simons, Niang, Garza are obviously vastly superior to Jrue, Kristaps, Luke and Horford.

That indeed has to reverse if it doesn’t then that is a massive issue for them.

Some of that is coaching

Teams understand what the Celtics want to do. And they can gamplan against it. but clueless joe has no counterpunches.

They are too robotic. They need more game plan versatility, especially in offense when 3s are either taken away or not falling.

Are you deliberately trying not to understand? It's about basketball penalties.

No. He traded Jrue and KP to get under the 2nd apron:

The goal was get under the 2nd apron..not getting under the tax completely to reset the repeater penalty.

Also, "well below market value" ? Eh, given Jrue's declining performance, age, injuries and the amount of $ and years still left on Jrue's contract, Brad did a great job to get off that contract without having to trade away any draft compensation, while still adding a good young player at the same time.

As for Porzingis, the guy literally can never stay healthy. Given his health and injury concerns, Brad also did a great job on that trade to get off that contract without having to trade away any draft compensation. Not only that, but he added a good veteran player on a fairly cheap expiring contract (Niang) while also acquiring a 2nd round pick and cash considerations.
