That's true. I'm honestly kind of curious when the last time was that JB was on a losing team. His college team had a winning record...
For all we know, the last time JB was on a losing team was when he was 11 lol.

Except we're gonna get under 2nd apron. We're just barely over, so all we gotta do is trade/waive either Tillman/Walsh/JD. If it's Tillman, then we'd have to get another big. So then we'd still have to end up dumping either Walsh/JD to get back under 2nd apron and get back down to 14 players on the standard roster.
So do we keep Tillman or no? I'd say it's a 50/50. We might keep him. But at the same time, he's not some young kid with upside we're developing. And he was pretty much useless last season on the court. So it's almost like a wasted roster spot..so I could see them dumping him and picking up another big who has upside and/or is more likely to provide some on court value.
As for who gets dumped between JD and Walsh, it could go either way I think. Walsh has shown more and played more during non-garbage time mins. However, JD plays a position/role we have a greater need for. Like we if lose JD, we might need to acquire another PG/ball handler to make up for that loss. But if Walsh is dumped? We lose nothing. We have plenty of other wings.
We probably won't know for sure which of these 3 is staying/going till after summer league. If Walsh does really well at SL, he's probably staying (or he has raised his trade value enough that we could get some value in return for him) but if he struggles, I figure he could get dumped via trade or get waived right after SL ends.
Hal, it's still just the beginning of the off-season. Things can take many different turns. if the Celtics sign Lillard then it will probably be for the $5+ million tax payer MLE which means they would have to move a player. If the Celtics sign Lillard then maybe Big Al Horford comes back. Many vets like Smart, Vucevic, Love etc. could be bought out. I'm not saying any of those moves will happen. Just saying there is still a lot to be played out this off-season.
I know. But as my post said, I was simply making a prediction on what I think will happen.
I don't think we'll be signing Lillard.
I asked ChatGPT where he is likely to sign:
"Miami Heat currently stand out as the leading candidate—a preferred destination for Lillard, with mutual interest, and an intuitive fit in their championship window. The Golden State Warriors are also strong due to proximity, culture, and timing. The Celtics and Lakers are on the fringe due to salary constraints but remain in the mix."

What I got out of the press conference is he's done the hard work to get under the 2nd apron (technically not, but...), so he's fine if this is the roster. But, if an opportunity arises to improve the team using Simons or Niang, he'll do it. He likes them but isn't married to them. Which, is fairly obvious. The big thing is he is NOT going to spend assets to dump Simons just to duck the tax. That was pretty clear, he wants to hold on to his picks for moves to actually improve the team later.
Now, if some team makes an offer for Simons that Brad likes and also gets us under the tax without costing us assets and maybe even returning something, he'll definitely jump on it. Or, if he can use a pick and Simons to pick up a player he really likes going forward (ie, for several years), then he'll do that and not worry about the tax.
That's kinda been my feel all along - so maybe I put my bias on what he said. But, it makes sense to me. I've made proposals to duck the tax, but they don't involve us sending picks. Or if they do, they bring back a guy like PJ or Gafford or WCJ or Black. Guys either already signed for $15-20M or less for a few years, or that you think you could resign in that range. If you get someone like that, you pay the tax and don't worry about it. Just stay under the 2nd apron.
Simons as THAT guy is tough. He's on the low end of that for me, and he's not signed, and would have to take a significant cut to be resigned in that range. I can squint and see the potential where he's worth paying the tax for and resigning cheaper. But, he really has to step up to make that the case.

Brad Stevens was just sending a message to other teams, if you don't come down on your price then we are happy going into the season the way we are currently. There will be more trades.

Yep, I'd be surprised if there aren't. Esp like you said above with Dame and possibly Al. But, they'll be on Brad's terms and won't cost us assets unless we are getting something of value back.
But I also think "message to other teams" is pretty overrated, tbh. They get that same message on the phone call without the presser.

I've yet to see anyone make a convincing case that the Celtics were not championship quality with or or without a different coach.
Jrue and KP in 26-27 would have been a huge mistake. You may disagree but it's pretty compelling. Especially given what keeping them would have meant from a roster-building and flexibility perspective.
You got nothing for them and the pieces you received are not helping you win either and worse yet they will not help you bring in the talent when you're looking to compete in 2026 when Tatum returns.
They can't just go out and replace talent simply because they wish too. They don't have the pieces to make that work or the cap.
Don’t worry.
Let them live in make believe land where we just magically end up with similar talents next season

Brad said JB is going to be cleared shortly. Though he wouldn’t give a timetable on Tatum he said something like both guys are progressing at incredible rates.
I’m not saying JT will be back this season, but I’m not not saying it either.

KD says that the most important advice for him to players recovering from a torn ACL is accepting the fact that they will "be out for a year" and coming to terms with it, at the :26 mark

You know whats crazy talk? Defending going into the taxes because they're too high for these billionaires while not acknowledging that the trades they made do not set them up for future success.
So they lost those cap holds. They'll never be able to dip back into it, they don't have any long term depth and what's worse is the Jays and White take up almost all the cap, making it virtually impossible to improve the team without shipping one of them out the door.
It's not crazy talk at all. The owners didn't want to pay half a billion dollars, with or without Tatum. Great.
How did Brad make the Celtics a championship team for 2026 with these moves?
That's the question you should be answering. Not explaining to me about the second apron like I haven't heard it 2,000 times.
They have a $22M TPE for zinger, they have Simons $27m expiring. Maybe they send that into a TPE.
They have to Niang expiring at $8.5. They can take Simons, Niang, and Hauser and trade that for a $46M player.
Think about that, add in PP and White and literally we can trade for anyone in the nba.
Hauser, Simons, Nuanf works for Giannis. Need more neutral salary? Throw in White instead of Hauser.
This is setting us up nicely for 2026.

I understand people's thoughts about JT and his drive, but he has a player option when he's 31. I love pocket watching when it comes to athletes and JT would have made over 350mil before that option.
At the end of the day it's a business and even though his family will have generational wealth off his back, he like every other uber rich human being will want more. I'm sure when he's 31 the yearly salary will easily be 70mil and for someone of his level he'll want every bit of that. A 4 year deal when he's 31 may be at least 250mil. That would put JT at over 600mil in career earnings. He'll be touching billionaire status with the correct investments.
His dad could say what he wants, the media could say what he wants, but in the end....... money talks.
