What? Why would the Spurs do that?

I don’t think Branham or Wesley are NBA players, but might as well swing on the upside and get a 2026 2nd round pick in exchange for a player with zero value to us.

2nd rounder is least favorable of Philly, OKC, and Dallas so this will be OKC's 2nd round pick. It looks like we have 4 2nd round picks next year (our own, Phoenix, OKC's, convoluted 4 team swap), top 8 protected pick and OKC's first round pick. Not to mention the ability to swap with Phoenix.

Edit: Olynyk was going to make $13.4 million next season. Wesley and Branham combined make about $9.6 so its about $4 million in savings.

It’s going to be the 60th pick. Pointless trade

Good value I suppose. But I’m having a hard time understanding the plan. We now have about 23 young wings with roster filler upside.

I guess the strategy is to keep taking bites of the apple, see what happens.

Anyone know if those are guaranteed contracts this year? I think they are. Wish we could have got Julian Champagnie.

Because they want some playable bigs for the playoffs. They don’t need anything they gave up.

Wizards are just trying to replenish the pick that they lost but more than likely it’s a pick at the end of the second round.

I have a feeling they're not done yet.

They're both in the last year of their contract.

There isn’t enough opportunity/playing time for this many non-established young players. Branham and Wesley have shown nothing so far.

They basically have one big on the roster now in Sarr. I wonder what happens next.

Wesley and Branham are both on expiring deals. So, we take a look and see if they are worth hanging on to, or we trade them away.
Olynyk for a late late late 2nd is an ok trade. He pretty much is just going through the motions right now till the end of his contract.

Captain Obvious says that we have at least one more trade in the works....because we cant have 397562 wings.

Noticed both players have team options for 25-26. I don’t know if it works this way but it would be cool if we could cut both guys and essentially free up a roster spot

This is a bizarre move. It only makes sense if there is something else in the works. We have no centers on the roster except Sarr, and he is barely a center. Why trade our backup center for a 6th guard and an 8th forward? And the pick, the likely #60 pick in the draft, is literally no better than a training camp invite.

The only thing that makes sense is that we will be applying the $4M saved in the transaction in some other trade for a center.

I doubt they keep both guards.

We can cut them. We would still have to pay them, but they would be off the roster and we could sign someone else to replace them.

Maybe we want to lose

Kyshawn George is now our backup center.
