Do wonder if Spurs gave up on Malakhi Branham too soon but they didn’t want to pay him, I would guess. Plus they have a lot of top tier youth now. That said, Thought Branham was a solid youngster.

I've long said if you could put Wesley and Branham together you'd have a well rounded player. But the one can't shoot and the other can't defend. Wesley is a defensive dog and works hard so he has an identity in the league. Branham has maturity issues but when focused he is quick and polished on O. But showing up out of shape to camp is the wrooooooong team to do that with.

I remember Trey Loles tried that **** with us thinking hey he's the only true PF so we HAVE to play him. Pop **** made him ride pine that season. He had a near guaranteed starting role and **** it up.

Branham had a green light when we were deep in development, even got some minutes under Pop later, but you know your time is up when the **** then interim HC Mitch perma benched your ass.

Guard depth is suddenly a need for the Spurs. If only they'd drafted one at 38 instead of dumping it the day before.

They had plenty of opportunities to find a niche, and they never got it together. I wanted a better return but I understood that they weren’t going to net much. Just because you have a lot of picks in a year doesn’t mean you should use them. In retrospect, they should have traded one of the picks instead of drafting three rookies.

I don’t think Blake or Malaki are likely to ever be rotation worthy guys on a winning team so I have this as a nice win for SA - albeit it’s not like bad for WAS as I understand kicking the tires on youth.

But Kelly is going to be a great fit in SA. Think he is still worthy of 12-15mpg in a playoff series which is nothing to scoff at - so the cost for them is very cheap for someone that brings legit PO minutes IMO.

kelly is a 7 footer that can handle and pass the ball like a guard and hit 3s...he cant do anything else but what he does well makes him a solid bench player

Having a bunch of mid to late first round picks continues to not matter much. I remember when the Rockets gave up on TyTy Washington, Garuba, Josh Christopher after one or two years, three completely wasted first round picks. And now this.
