Didn't SGA just sign the richest contract in NBA history?

Oh ok.

Irrelevant. He would have stood to make more had he waited. You realize this, yes? Cap is going up. So Shai signing now gives OKC the best opportunity to remain flexible moving forward, IE keeping the team together.

Jokic waiting to sign the biggest payday is strictly a money move. Assuming that is what he is doing and not making plans to leave for a winning organization.

Why didn't Shai sign an extension last year? He was eligible, no?

That's what I'm saying. People are overlooking the Lakers in this situation. Sure Denver can offer the most money, but if Jokic is truly about championships I think teaming with Luka in LA would give him a better chance than what Denver currently can offer.

You talking about Luka/Jokic put a bunch of vet min players around them and they will still contend. Lakers are known for pulling these kind of moves. They are set up cap space wise to be a major factor next year.

Out goes LeBron in comes Jokic.

The extra money people are talking about is just the extra year that gets tacked on if he signs next year. It's not like it's objectively a better money move - there's a real chance he could get hurt this year, regress, etc and Denver could not offer the extension next year.

My read is this is more about him keeping his options open on what team he wants to play for once his contract is up. Not sold on it 100% being the Lakers, but I think Jokic wants to see how this season goes, and then make a decision on if he needs to move to get another ring.

People seem to be downplaying this. But it's obviously far better if he signed than he didn't.

He doesn't really earn much more money by waiting. He declined the deal because he wants his option to leave.

Jokic is out. He's gonna join Luka in LA. Pay attention to the signs people. Denver had a great off-season and he still turned down the contract.

Luka/Jokic get ready for it. Gonna be hilarious to see the Jokic fanboys have to root for the Lakers.

Why would he sign the extension now when he can sign a bigger extension next summer? Maybe he is being smart…..i think he sign next summer and stays in Denver like Dirk with the Mavs

Why would he sign an extension next summer when he can sign an even bigger deal in FA 2027?

The logic doesn't fit him signing next summer. The logic is he probably only signs next summer if Denver meaningfully improve and have a deep playoff run. He just watched Denver cheap out last 2 seasons after they won the championship.

Why would he even sign a contract in the NBA? He could get the biggest euro league contract ever and become GOD there and take Luka with him.

Man, I thought Raptors fans were delusional about every superstar being signed there next, but Lakers fans take the cake.

On the other hand, we do have the only Serbian head coach....sooo...

Im thinking Jokic is worried OKC might trade for Giannis if OKC fails to repeat. Giannis, Shai, and J Will is a filthy big 3.

I wish he plays with any player but Luka, they can win just off pure talent but they hinder each other's potential individual greatness.

How much can he sign for if he extends this year?

How much can he sign for if he extends next offseason?

Would you like to do a 1 year ban bet that Jokic is a Nugget after this current contract :)? I'm guessing you won't...

You don’t need to bet anything to get Buzzin banned he does it on his own

He cares so much that he is gonna cripple Denver's cap once eligible for more? If he cared about both then he'd resign now. Just like Shai did.

Waiting to sign for the biggest payday is a money > winning priority move.

LOL. That’s weak man. I thought you were up to the task but sadly you are not in the same league.

Actually as the cap goes up so does the max amount a player can sign the super max for. Since the tv deals kick in this year the cap will go and therefore his salary will go up as well if he waits a year

As a professional baskeyball player, if you are not scared of the spotlight, why wouldn't you want to play for the Lakers? They still probably are the most famous basketball franchise in the world. The history, the fame, big city lifestyle etc. I could imagine the Lakers would be high on just about any player's list.

For one? The taxes. California has some of the highest in the country and I'd like to keep more of my money than give it to the tax man. For two? It's the Lakers. To hell with that team. LOL

Lol I knew you going to post. It is like people lack reading comprehension. Either that or too eager to troll. I knew when I started this thread it will attract all of low level trolls. You know what else will happen Luka will turn down his extension too. Because news flash you make more money waiting. Especially Luka.

Speaking of low level trolls. Luka does not make more turning down the extension. He can potentially make more if he will sign a 3 year extension instead of a 4 year.
You keep calling out everyone who missed the reason why jokic turned down the extension. You should follow your own damn memo
