Great news. No longer need to use any of your relievers to pitch three innings. Rest day for bullpen, and the winning streak continues. Hoping they can get another sweep tomorrow, to match the all-time consecutive win streak for this franchise.

Good, a Bassitt complete game and no RPs used. Very helpful.

Not the most traditional way to give your bullpen a rest, but I'll take it. Let's turn it up to 11 tomorrow.

Oh hey, and the Astros just lost by 4 in extras.

The Jays are now one game down from being able to avoid a WC series entirely. Did not see this coming a month ago.

Could he have pitched the 7th? Yes most likely, but keep in mind that reduced velocity is often an indicator of an impending arm injury. This used to be one of those things in years past where a starter's velocity would dip, and they would be left in like normal. Then a start or two later it doesn't get better, and he ends up leaving the mound holding his arm on route to the IL.

It is very likely that they noticed the dip in velocity and pulled him early as a precaution, which is the right decision given the lead, the opponent, and the point of the season we are in.

Good obervation - I was against not bringing him back, but the above makes sense.

In retrospect, it was the right decision, it was made to look worse by how bad Pina was

Up 8-1 against one of the worst offenses in the league, and something clearly off with your SP. Makes total sense to pull Berrios (despite <80 pitches) in hopes that Pina gives you 3 innings even if he gives up 2-3 runs

I know many of us (including myself) will criticize John Schneider for his bullpen management, but relative to others he is probably not far from average == perhaps he is a bit below.

I would imagine many fans think their managers are stupid in terms of managing the pen. But in reality, with the way starters are limited today (for health precautions and analytics) serious strains are constantly put on your bullpen. And furthermore you also have to try to manage the health of the bullpen more than ever, by limiting their appearances. Add the fact that there are always injuries in the staff, and its a constant battle.

Its not easy, and there are more constraints than ever in trying to manage a pen. Even with 13 guys on staff. Guys 11-13 are often just chumps that get rotated from team to team.

No Springer or Kirk today against their best pitcher, the streak may be finally be at an end.

I understand resting Kirk at Catcher, but with the day off tomorrow- not sure why Springer could not be DH, and Davis Schneider or Clement at Second; instead of that scrub Leo Jimenez who has looked terrible at the plate for this entire last week he has been called up.

i just want to know why the analytics department is above resolve.

Call out the guys instructing John and the players. Whining about Montoyo, gibby and now Schneider is just insanity.

They could certainly use him today looking at that lineup.

Have literally been boycotting attending games for 2+ years due to the front office and their overreliance on analytics. What more do you want from me?
