I'm confused by this. If he signed a maximum extension, how could he have got $40 million more?

Chet for Lebron trade incoming!
(Mining for responses and clicks! Did I do it right?)

Good for Chet. He has a long way to go, but a player with his draft pedigree, talent, and having demonstrated plenty of flashes of it will always, always get the rookie max extension.

A necessary evil but this contract has potential to go badly. He needs to develop his offensive game and most importantly stay healthy. His defensive impact is just stellar though.

Jalen Williams hasn't signed an extension yet?

Even if Dort were to be gone at some point, why would they trade him and not defend their title? Chet's contract doesn't kick in until 2026-27 and Lu is just flat out better than Smart and durable as heck.

Not yet. I'm guessing he's next up.

overpaid and very overrated. he's a poor 3rd option. very easily prone to getting taken out of a game entirely due to limited offensive arsenal and lack of strength. he will be okc's undoing next year vs. jokic who should eat him alive.

They can give Dort a slight raise. I expect him to get Caruso money or maybe a little better with OKC.

Hartenstein will be the casualty after 2026 or 2027, and possibly Cason Wallace after 2028.

SGA doesn't kick in until 2028 so they still have time before it gets really tight.

The second apron penalties were 100% created to hurt big market teams and make it more fair to the small market teams. Maybe that will change in the next CBA now that a small market team won't be able to keep their contending team together.

That’s the point save money for others a lot of champion teams do this.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I'm also confused. Can someone explain this? Shouldn't the 25% max (up to 30% if certain criteria are met) be the same amount of money for both players?

For example, the top players of the 2021 class (Cunningham, Mobley, Wagner, Barnes) all signed the same contract. Why is Banchero/Chet not the same contract if both signed the max?

Good for him but I’ve been thoroughly unimpressed with this guy so far.

Chet was invisible at times in the finals and is not the man guy in OKC. While Paolo is literally the Magic’s best player.

Paolo has sucked his entire career and got a full max.

Which he should! He will probably one day be good.

But he hasn't been at any point.

lol, now I can’t take what you say seriously.

OKC won't be able to keep this team together. Soon they will be paying just Chet and SGA 121 a year. Dort and Hartenstien contracts are up in 2027 and they will have to come up with big bucks for Williams in 2028.

Isn’t Jalen due for an extension this year?

Too much. Hasn't proved that he is worth it...

He will probably be traded in couple of years, though...

He helped them win a championship. That has to count for something.

Yes. And because he made all-nba he should automatically get that rookie super max (whatever it is called) as a guarantee.

Edit: Correction: he has to make all-nba again this season. Thanks for the correction lethalizer.
