Yes...as an assistant. They don't have to grant permission for lateral moves. He obviously knows we want him in some capacity at this point so, from what I understand, it's up to Borrego to say he wants out now. No interview necessary.

it's the other way around if i'm not mistaken. they don't need permission to move up. but they need permission to interview for the same role elsewhere.

It's exactly the way I explained it. They denied another team for an asst interview.

We already interviewed him for a HC spot hough. We don't need to formally interview him at this point. Knowing there is interest should be enough for Borrego. Does he want to be an asst in NOP or here?

What if we give him a massive raise than what he’s getting on the pelicans lol

Yeah...they denied someone so, what are you saying now? Teams do not have to grant permission for a lateral move interview. They didn't. What's the disconnect?

I think there's a compensation issue between the teams. If he asks out to come here, we have to pay somehow. Cash/picks to NOP. A raise will most likely help Borrego ask out but, what's the compensation gonna be?

i know what you mean, he seems a little goofy. i think it can be a really good personality for this roster actually, but a lot is riding on what his assitant lineup looks like. he seems suited to be a vocal leader and unifier type with various specialized personalities contributing to the decision making and training process. things won't turn out good if the front office gets in the way and his bench is just father of jalen and darren errman again though lol

No. You two are not understanding. We already interviewed Borrego. We don't need permission for another interview. He knows we want him. We already talked to him. if he's interested in being an assistant here instead of HC, the ball is now in his court. The Pelicans have to hope he's not interested in leaving them.

I explained this three times. The denial was for another team to interview him for asst. They can deny that all they want. It makes zero difference in relation to what's being discussed now.

I believe the only thing left would be for him to decide to leave and, what we have to pay the Pelicans to get him. This is where I am a little unsure but, Selby says it so, it's a fact,

jesus christ blunston. the interview is not the point. they can just refuse permission for him to take this job whatsoever because it's a lateral move. he has a contract with the pelicans. they would have to release him from it. they could even refuse him to take the head coaching job if they really wanted to but teams don't do that because it looks bad.

Pay me $40mil guaranteed and I'd be happy at the press conference too even if it was to coach the Jazz...

Hi Jason, loved your show!

We loved Lasso but he didn't make his team win the championship. So I'm thinking I'd rather Brown makes us win and he can hire a nice guy to talk with us about it, if necessary.

I think your missing something. I already explained I don't know how it works for him to leave them. That's got nothing to do with being interviewed. You're losing the discussion and telling me I'm wrong.

You're both wrong replying to my original comment. They can deny lateral move interviews. We don't need permission to interview him again.

Where it goes from there is where I was not sure.

Taking other people's word for it around here is never a good idea. We can't have Borrego as asst unless he can convince them to let him go.

Moving on.

Please. I explained my position. You can't read.

As far as Borrego...he was denied permission to interview for an asst job elsewhere. Why? Because teams can deny interviews for lateral moves. So while having that discussion...I asked what it would take for us to get him. Selby then said he has to ask out.

At no point in that discussion was it made aware that they can deny him from leaving... Which I asked.

Thanks. I went and found the answer on my own. Pay attention.

We're offering him the master associate head coach position...it's an upgrade over your measly associate head coaching position and he'll get more money so...
