Bucks would be insane to decline this, especially if there’s protections on the swap. They get out of a terrible Kuzma contract and get a guard who can replace some of what they lost in waiving Lillard.

Maybe they can move the swap out for a couple of second rounders instead?

Not a lot of room for Simons in our guard rotation.

We’d rather use kuzma+assets for a sf.

Darvin Ham would disagree because they have the great Taurean Prince as their actual starting SF.

Not surprising, The next owners main focus is getting under the cap. My guess is that Simons gets traded for a second round pick or some sort or TPE.

It was never about fit, it was about getting under the 2nd apron.

Dumping Jrue and KP did that. Letting Kornet and big Al walk ensured they stayed under that.

Well yes I get that Im just stating why they’re looking to move him.

Does not look like anyone has a TPE large enough to absorb him.

Celtics will never win anything with Smart on the roster. Doesn’t matter how much he extends for either. If he signs a MLE salary extension he’s still going to think he’s the Alpha in Boston. We’ll be watching 4-15 from 3 point land but 1 winning play throughout the game. That’s the Marcus experience in a nutshell.

Charlotte is probably interested because they badly need a guard.

The value Boston is looking for is reducing their tax hits.

Why would another team help the Celtics with that, unless they were given an incentive to do so? Guys who share Simons skillset comes in dime in a dozen, so if the Celtics are looking to use Simon contract to cut salary, they're going have to be willing to send out draft capital to do so.

Get the more talented guy although flawed for whatever lower salary on 2 year deal that the other team is giving up.

Free talent upgrade for taking on more money this year.

I don't think the Celtics are trying to win next year and then they can just let him expire or trade him a an expiring at the deadline. But I was also thinking that this deal would be a stepping stone to another deal. Maybe then they could move Marcus Smart to another team for a player making less. Just have to find a team with enough space under the tax to absorb the salary difference.

And obviously they can do a similar Simons deal with another team - just not sure who else wants Simons.

Doubtful as they just acquired Sexton. Now if Simons were 7' the Hornets would definitely be interested.

Huh? Lamelo, Sexton, Mann, Dinwiddie, Connaughton, and heck even Josh Green.

I'd say guard is not a need at all for the Hornets lol

The Lakers are waiting for him to get a buyout. He has the same agent as Doncic and Ayton.

I would give away Simons for free to join Randle/DDV/Conley than to trade White.

Brad complimented the hell out of him yesterday and the Celtics media team tweeted a ton of stuff about how he's the awesome new Celtic. Kinda seemed like they put the whole thing in stone for the time being.

Unless Horford wants to return and we need money for that asap, I don't really think Simons is getting moved until a great deal comes along, whenever that may be.

Who said the Celtics want Randle and a 37 year old Conley and DDV who actually massively underperformed in the playoffs? 8-)
Good assessment:

I agree.

Jazz, like most teams, need to avoid Kuzma.

Just thinking. Maybe Simons sees Prichard and White here and wants to go to a better situation. The roster configuration doesn’t make much sense, for obvious reasons, but what if Brad really meant all those things but also said that they would work with his agent behind the scenes to get him to a preferred destination.

That leaves an already thin frontcourt in Minny even thinner, no? Reid isn't a 5, he's a 4/3, and Randle is more a 4/5 than a 5/4, but at least they can get away to some extent in various lineups with him at the 5 so Gobert can rest + injury insurance. I know Minny also wants a PG to replace Conley at this point, but is this really the best option?

I also think Simons is redundant here. He'll simply take the ball out of Edwards' hands without providing much on the defensive side of the court.

White is the target - and worth a temporary thin frontcourt (before next move). One trade doesn’t solve all.

Simons replaces DDV off bench.

I don't really think that teams want Simons. He's small so he gets targeted on defense, and his efficiency has dropped for 4 straight seasons to below league average the last 2 (technically 3). And he's making $27 mil this next season.
