SUNS trade assets (Richards, Allen, O'Neale)

Post#1 » by KdoubleDees23 » Wed Jul 9, 2025 3:36 pm

I know Suns may be making more moves, and the only real assets they can move include Richards, Allen, and O'Neale.

What teams can use Richards at Center? What can he get back for the Suns
Allen a shooter and pesty defender ? Who can use that?
O'Neale is a great role player / veteran to fill depth.

Suns could use PG coming back, More Shooters, etc.

Would love to see what could be had with these 3 players.

None of these is a significant asset, and the length on O'Neale deal is bad, Allen not ideal.
Many teams could use them, but so do the Suns, I don't see the point of exchaing them with others.

Suns have

Williams, Maluach , OSO at Center

I think Richards can bring in another depth position (maybe PG depth)

He makes 5M and he's a backup, not a good one at that, he's not bringing you anything significant

Would PHX be interested in Branham or Wesley and a 2nd for Richards?

New owner syndrome. I feel sorry for Booker. At least they are moving on from Beal. It will still be a few more seasons before they can make the playoffs in the west.

The Suns should just waive Richards and resign him at minimum.

The much talked about Gafford for Allen still makes sense for Dallas if they can move Thompson for a backup big and the third team who takes Gaff sends PHX something they want

Maybe a 3 team. Gafford to a team, PG to Suns and Allen to Dallas.

Depending on who the PG is, Dallas may just cut PHX off and take the point for themselves.

Lakers would have interest in Grayson.

I think Gabe+Knecht could do it?

I’d hope the suns hold on to Allen and Royce until the deadline. If the Suns have a shot at making a playoff run they will probably need those guys as bench pieces. I’d guess that they reassess in January when both will have more value.

Suns have to be all over that. Not sure the Lakers would actually do it, though.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I agree. That’s all about how the Lakers feel about Knecht internally.

I could see that from the Suns perspective if they can’t find a PG they want on the vet min

Felt like Allen heading to LA as part of the return in a Reaves deal makes some sense.

Not sure what that might be but Reaves is valued highly in LA. So I doubt he's traded.

O'Neal is 32, under contract for 3 years at 11mil per year. Last year he shot 41% from 3, average 9 and 5.

How many 3/D guys are there out there better than Royce who are paid less a year?
