But what sucks is that this contract essentially removes any accountability from Vlad. We should've made him perform this season before paying him at the end of the season. No one would've paid more anyways.

He has a full no trade clause. No other franchise/city is going to let him get away with his unwillingness to adapt his swing mechanics or bad base running, or playoff disappearance, etc, so he has very little reason to accept a trade even if a team were to be interested in him. He will be a hero here as he limps his way to 3000 hits when he’s 40 and 7 years removed from being a positive WAR player.

He barely barrels the ball anymore, he used to mash the crap out of balls consistently even when he wasn't hitting well but now he looks bad trying to hit balls in the middle of the plate. I'm still think he has it in him but he needs to figure it out because if Jay's don't go far he will be the reason why.

Change his swing go see Aaron judges hitting coach

Then pinch run for him every time he reaches base.

And replace him for defense.

It's wild that he's our $500m man and when a clutch hit is needed there are about 4 other guys I'd rather see at the plate, even the AAAA crew.

I remember you saying that a couple weeks back so I went and watch the video showing Judge's changes to his stance and swing and oddly enough pre super hero Judge looks a lot like Vlad especially the hands close to the body. Now Judge has his hands further back, I'm not a hitting specialist so I wouldn't be able to explain the difference it made but it sure looks like Vlad could learn from Judge like you said.

Was Vlad Sr’s swing different than Vladdy? They have similar swings do they not? I didn’t really watch baseball back then.

Idk but vlad jr has been prone to hitting a ton of grounders throughout his career. That is definitely in relation to his swing. They did a segment on mlb recently saying something about how his bat plane has the lowest angle to the ball or something like that…. It’s really a waste of his power…

If he doesn’t make the appropriate changes he’s never gonna get any better.

I'm not a swing specialist but Vlad Sr was way more flexible and athletic than Jr and it showed at the plate. From my untrained eye I don't think their swing is similar but hey what do I know.

Was really hoping, when we finally did lose a game, that it would be by ~10 runs. Want to get that +/- back in line. Rough loss all around.

Vlad is 60th in slugging% and on pace for 21 homeruns. He gotta start figuring out his power swing. He's still a good bat but we're paying 500 mill lmao he gotta be elite and that OPS has to start with a 9

Swinging for HRs is what has him in this funk. He needs to try to stay short to the ball and hit line drives up the middle. When his swing gets long he misses cookies he should crush. He’s turning into a specimen a little more year by year, and already had natural power. He doesn’t need to try to hit the ball 600 ft. Just needs to stay short and catch it out front.

I remember some said the same thing last year when he struggled and then he started to just put the barrel on the ball without elongating his swing and he went on a tear. I always thought he could hit for .330 every year but that Plata mindset is messing with his game.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
