What’s a good extension number for Aaron Nesmith?

A dark horse alternative is, Nesmith would foul out every game if he played 32 mpg.

Hard to knock Nesmith for 25-28mpg when Indy succeeded off depth? For example, in the playoffs, Haliburton, Nesmith, and Siakam all largely tied for the team lead with 33mpg.

Nesmith played 28 mpg in the playoffs, not 33.
And in any case the minutes distribution requires some context. Haliburton playing 33 mpg for the playoffs was certainly not by design as he was injured in the finals and neither was Nesmith playing 28 mpg since he committed 27 fouls in 132 minutes in the final 5 games.
You might say well Nesmith will foul less as he matures and plays with more poise but the fact is his defensive value is 90% from his crazyman energy.

If this year’s performance is the driver to this decision, it will be interesting how Pacers evaluate the results. Without Ty I expect Aaron to have more trouble scoring. Mathurin gets a lot of his points on his own so not having Ty will impact him less?

If Aaron is willing to extend, he wins……right?

Don't see it. Obi will be at 15 and Nembhard close to 20. Nesmith will want to be paid like his fellow starter and not like a backup.

People can have different risk tolerance levels. I wouldn’t blame Aaron whatever choice he makes. Not near as devastating for Pacers if he extends at below market and he gets hurt as it would be for Aaron if doesn’t extend and gets hurt. $30 mil while below market is still a lot of money.

Solidly 5th on the team in minutes in the playoffs. And he committed 4 fouls a game in 28 minutes. If he played 35, statistically he’d have committed 5. All while drawing the toughest assignment every night, even over Nembhard.

He was REALLY good. He’s not a star, but he was insanely impactful in the playoffs for Indy. He got called for fouls on Shai? I’m shocked, SHOCKED I tell you!

Very solid 3&D wing that Indy should do what they can to keep. Dont go crazy, but a little overpay si warranted
