Because we were not blessed to have a VJ performance tonight

I think his shot is busted atm, maybe hes dealing with an injury?

There’s something off with him. I made the mistake of putting too much weight on the first half of his freshman season, assuming his struggles during the second half of his freshman season were just due to an injury that seemed temporary at the time.

His shot selection and high turnovers suggested he projected poorly as a lead G. For now, he needs to abandon any instance of a pullup three and only shoot open catch and shoots.

I’ll wait till the regular season before waving him off as a miss. Definitely not promising so far.

The moment to moment changes of opinions and mindsets is comical for a while, but they get old quickly.

It's f***king summer league, most of these guys will never see an NBA floor, and yet final judgments are thrown around on a play by play basis.

If it helps, I've never changed my opinion on Knecht!

Thanks for letting me know, I was really wondering.

Since not much excitement with no VJ or Bona, how about a blast from the past.

Watching this game I thought Korkmaz was the 2nd coming of Drazen. I really thought Korkmaz would be a great 6th man/borderline starter, but he never really developed. At least he provided some excitement.

I'll own that miss. Wanted him bad, 2nd on my sixers list. It's early, season hasn't started yet. I placed too much emphasis on his injury.

Just hope he doesn't lose all confidence. May want to be his 3rd team

Expecting to hear that the Sixers had VJ get acupuncture on his thumb and somehow he contracted an unusual infection and is in the hospital getting it debrided and also probably lost 30 pounds.

That’s what impressed me most about VJ’s Summer League debut against the Jazz was how impactful he was despite not having a great shooting night. He still finished with nearly 30 points, the highest +/- among all players, and made contributions across the board.. rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

there really feels like there is no point in ever getting excited about anything regarding this team lol.

probably will shut him down, he will miss training camp and then Nurse buries him behind Gordon lol

This year is shaping up to be very promising.

Not at all a third consecutive wasted year.

Next week: VJ had a stepback while doing PT, and lost a couple of fingers. It´s not clear if he may return this season...

Let’s all just take a deep breath and relax.

This is just the team being overly cautious with our shiny new #3 pick. We already saw him ball out so don’t really need him to prove anything here. He’s still practicing with the team so I am going to save my venom for another day.

for normal franchises, yes. but they already changed the diagnosis multiple times so they don't get that benefit of the doubt.

But beyond the reality of it, it just is constant misery lol. Finally have something to look forward to and they can't even give us that lol. VJ is legit the only good thing they did this offseason in a sense and they have found a way to take that away from us.

Makes everything feel like a waste of time to even get invested lol. I know its not fully their fault of course but man it gets to a point...

That kind of logic and reason isn't welcome here, young man.

As a fellow dumbass on a Sixers message board in July, I totally get it. But after last season, I’ve tried to adopt a more optimistic mindset when it comes to the team. They are almost certainly going to disappoint me this year but I’m going to pretend they won’t until it happens lol

It's not that his thumb is some serious issue, it's that he had a thumb injury at all. He couldn't just play a normal summer league, look good, and get everyone excited. No, of course not, that would be too much to ask. We have to suffer. Embiid's foot, Simmons's jones fracture on the final play of practice, Fultz hurting his ankle in the summer league plus forgetting how to shoot, Zhaire's allergic reaction, McCain tearing his meniscus, VJ hurting his thumb.

Every single rookie this team gets hurt, it's insane. The odds of that happening are astronomically low and the odds get lower and lower for each ensuing rookie added and yet it still keeps happening. There is some entity out there that just does not want Sixers fans to be happy.

And it always happens in a way that makes it hurt most. For example: McCain didn't get hurt in the summer league when he looked bad. He got hurt when he was starting to go berserk and get everyone excited during the regular season. Fultz was looking really good in the summer league, then hurts his ankle, comes back later and was never the same again. Simmons happens on the final play of practice before the season. Right when everyone is chomping at the bit to see Simmons and Embiid together. There's no doubt that if VJ had not hurt his thumb, he'd have played the entire summer league, averaged like 35ppg, had everyone going crazy and then breaks his arm on the final play or something.

Thumbs aren't a big deal if you just adjust your shot a little...
