What could TL trade 3 FRPs for?

I have no issue with staying the course. At least for one more season. And that appears to be the case, beyond shuffling our bench guys out of necessity.

The trade will come organically when the team has to make hard decisions about contracts extensions.

Don’t rush the process.

I want to see what we have going into the trade deadline.

I think the hesitation is that we know if we miss with this move, we're wasting Cade's contract. If we are going to make a move, it needs to feel like a sure thing. Nothing out there feels like a sure thing right now.

Stars like Cade don't show up in Pistons blue very often. We don't want another Grant Hill situation where our poster boy leaves in his prime. We can mess up with the wrong trade. We can mess up with the wrong culture. We can mess up by doing nothing at all. It's nerve wracking to spend all of our future firsts and our remaining cap flexibility in case they end up in street clothes as the playoffs approach. That's the fear that this fanbase is dealing with.

100% more "all in" moves end up never making it to the Finals than those that actually do work out.

Clippers for PG13, Suns for KD, etc.

The Pelicans went "all-in" to add DeMarcus Cousins to a young AD and that didn't work out at all. If they would have kept a young Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans and draft picks they possibly could have put a better more balanced and deep roster around AD.

Lately the moves that have reaped rewards and championships have been less "all-in" type moves.

Boston trading 2 firsts for Jrue, OKC trading for Caruso, Denver trading for players like KCP & Gooden.

The last "all in" trade that did work was probably the Bucks trading 3 future firsts for Jrue Holiday + two future 1st pick swaps.

"All in" trades usually don't work because the team that wants them doesn't have many choices for star players that are available. So they have to pay a high price for a piece that usually doesn't work as well as hoped, but gave up the farm. Its not a patient move.

The best "big trades" are won when a team sees other teams are desperate and needs to "get over the top" so they can fleece them.

Or be the Lakers, Miami, recent Warriors and stars force their way to your team for peanuts.

I like holding onto draft picks but also if we can make a deal without losing a core player, that's what I want. Like a Reed Sasser and whoever we get with our TPE with draft picks for another core guy
