Clippers Hope To Sign Both Chris Paul, Bradley Beal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jul 9, 2025 3:41 pm

The Los Angeles Clippers have interest in signing both Chris Paul and Bradley Beal this offseason. The Clippers have been linked with both players, but they are not facing an either or scenario after completing a number of roster moves to create the roster spots and cap mechanisms to add both. The Clippers are $8.9 million under the first apron hard cap with three open roster spots. The Clippers have $5.3 million remaining on their non-taxpayer midlevel exception and then use their leftover space on a veteran minimum contract.

Paul previously was teammates with James Harden with the Houston Rockets and played for the Clippers from 2011 until 2017. The Clippers are looking to add a veteran backup point guard. Paul recently said this week that he intends for the 2025-26 season to be his last in the NBA. Paul also would like to return closer to the West Coast after spending the 2024-25 season with the San Antonio Spurs.

Beal is currently working on a buyout with the Phoenix Suns and he would help the Clippers replace Norman Powell. Beal is also said to be prioritizing location for his family.

They’re trying to compete with Golden State for the most washed up irrelevant team in the league

They should trade Zubac and get Horford instead. They may have the oldest team in NBA history then.

Harden, Paul
Dunn, Beal
Leonard, Batum
Collins, Jones Jr
Zubac, Lopez

With Bogdanovic as your 11th man is STACKED!

It all depends on Kawhi, but I really like the roster build.

Every team in the NBA would want Beal if his salary matched his talent. Casual NBA fan thinks he's a bum because PHX fell apart and they treated Beal like a spare tire. His USG% dropped and with it, his counting stats. but his efficiency is as good as it's ever been. His situation in WAS got him a way-too-big contract, but he is still a $20-25m player. He won't show that if he takes a bench role on a contender, but if he goes to MIL he may be back to 24/5/5. Situation matters.

And while PHX tries to find a way to jettison Beal, they are preparing to offer Booker a 2yr/$150m extension. I would way rather give Beal $25m per than give Booker $75m per. The Suns will survive this Beal situation, but that Booker deal is going to drown them.

That is idiotic- the contact was the problem, not the player.

Beal would start. Paul is prepared to come off the bench. Bogdanovic is not behind Batum or Jones and neither is Cameron Christie. Health and rest permitting, all twelve of these players will be in the game rotation.

Beal as a vet minimum player becomes a dude you can handle being around in the locker room. It is such a low risk high reward situation that it's a no brainer for the Clippers. After trading away Powell specifically, but they also have some depth to where as if they had to cut ties with Beal for whatever reason it would not be so stressing on the payroll or the rotation.

Paul should sign with the Lakers and end his career with LeBron. He'll soak up all of the backup PG minutes and still play 20-24 MPG. Doncic will play backup SF. Trade Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht and a 2031 first for Andrew Wiggins and a filler.

G - Doncic (36) | Paul (20)
G - Reaves (36)| Goodwin (6) | James Jr.
F - Wiggins (28) | LaRavia (14) | Thiero
F - James (34)| Hachimura (24) | Kleber
C - Ayton (30) | Hayes (12)
