Can't they stretch him at $9.2MM over three years? It has been 2x + 1 years, twice the number of remaining years plus one. Did that change in the new CBA?

I can't imagine why Boston would stretch him. He is a young player on an expiring contract, should be easily traded. I suppose they might not like the return, but if the goal is to cut cap and get under the 2nd apron there are options out there. The Celtics can use salary matching to their advantage if they can find the right combination of a team with space under the Tax and a player/s that work. I just am not sure who wants Simons at this point.

Would Memphis trade KCP for him? KCP has an extra year under contract, but he makes about $6M less than Simons and Memphis has the space under the tax to make it work.

I still like my idea of Marcus Smart for Simons. Then maybe flip Smart to the Bulls for Zach Collins or Huerter. Or an even crazier idea flip Smart to the Hornets for Grant Williams.

Spotrac is like my salary cap bible - so thought this was interesting. They finally updated the Devin Booker extension, it had been reported weeks ago but was obviously not finalized (we'll at least not to the point that the folks at Spotrac felt comfortable putting on their site). They used the 27/28 cap projection to calculate the extension that starts in the 28/29 season. So their contract of 2 years $133M is currently wrong. I am sure they'll see the mistake at some point and fix it, but I guess they make mistakes as well.

Quick edit - I feel like someone that posts on this board is involved with Spotrac, so maybe they'll see this and help to get that fixed.

When can the players drafted in the 2025 draft be traded? Is it Dec 15? Are there any that have not officially signed yet? If so, can their rights be traded now?

Can trade anytime if they haven't signed. Think its 60 days if they did sign

True - it is an estimate, but using the wrong year's cap number. Plus they explain their calculation at the bottom -

Contract Notes
Salaries are 105% of 2027-28 salary due to $182,433,000 projected cap which 35% is lesser

This extension starts in the 28/29 season

I think that would be a relatively lateral move.

For Milwaukee? I actually like it. I think RJ gets a little more flack than he should and think he was a genuine positive player last year and Milwaukee could use any kind of guard/wing creation if they can get it. Im not sure Toronto does this though as i just dont think they want Kuz on the roster and i dont think he's dumpable

RJ >> Kuzma on court, but thats not saying much since Kuzma was such a negative last year. I agree with you that it doesn't really change the fortune of the bucks much in grand scheme of things.

Think Barrett an upgrade because he cares about basketball. Gives them some play making for their lack of guards but I don't think this move worth tying up an asset over.

RJ would thrive with Giannis.

Suns probably do RJ for Green right? (one year shorter, 6 mil cheaper this year and better Booker fit)

The Suns talked about Green being their PG, which RJ can't do. Of course Green can't do it either but they may not know that yet.

I'd still trade Klay, Hardy, and Toronto's choice of Caleb Martin or Naji Marshall for him. Solves some massive issues for Dallas, the lack of playmaking, the need to trim down the roster, and past his expiration Klay starting

I don't like RJ's game, but he can handle the ball a bit and distribute.
