If Giannis' goal is to get acquiescence from management, it backfires when they retain Doc for him, or if they make a panicky trade this offseason like Kuzma & a '31 1st for RJ Barrett, Wiggins, et al. They should be patient til the deadline, but IDK how they'll react to this.

I just saw the longer clip. It came off like someone who didn't want to commit 100% when the future remains unknowable, but he flat out rejected the idea of going to NY and it sounded to me like he's all-but committed to being here for the foreseeable future. He finished off everything with saying "I love Milwaukee."

I don’t think management is watching podcasts to figure out what Giannis is going to do, they already know.

They don't have to watch. We didn't watch. Still got around to us.

The Bucks don't know. They're not him. From even Jim O's reporting, he was non-committal with them, while just giving no indicators he's leaving, which has been backed up w/ action since. But a shred of doubt may lead to short-sighted moves, as they've often made before to appease.

If I get up the courage to ask my 14 year old crush to go to the Homecoming Dance during fall of our Freshman year of High School, "probably" is not exactly the answer I would want to hear. Then again, it's better then "no," or being flat out ghosted, haha.

Had two ex GFs say "sure" when I asked them out. It was a I don't want to say yes, but I would feel bad saying no response.

That said, I've switched on this whole loyalty thing as I've grown up. It's cool he is making every effort to stay in Milwaukee but I wouldn't blame him if he leaves. Who the hell is he being loyal to anyways? He was born in Greece, theres a new owner, every single teammate is new, it's a new stadium that basically totally flipped every usher, new management, multiple new coaches, etc. Guy has one life to live and if moving to LA or NY makes him and his family happier, I totally get it. Just as long as it isn't in a AD-like standoff.

thats my take at this point. i think he truly enjoys messing with that question and i legitimately think its also a wink wink thing with the front office. there is a TON of benefit to us if we know hes staying but the world think he might go as it relates to how other teams may operate and the value of those picks off in the distance

i dont think the Bucks know know. but i do think the front office probably have a better sense than anybody besides his family about where his heads at. like they dont know the future but they KNOW him and they have the most communication with him behind closed doors. if theyre running things by him and keeping him abreast and making sure they dont cross him then theyll get a sense that nobody else can

At this point in the offseason there's pretty much a 0% chance that he's all of a sudden going to do a heel turn and request a trade before the season starts. This just feels like everyone wants him to do the "I'm a Buck for life 100%" thing and I'll never not find that to be an incredibly weird expectation that we demand of him.

Horst is sitting on his porch enjoying a drink and chuckling to himself how he made it work to somehow get turner into a bucks uniform.

Enjoying his moment in the sun, he suddenly get a buzz on his phone and sees a forwarded video link, something about a guy named, Speed?

Within seconds his phone rings and there's an unhappy boss on the other end.

Horst eventually end the call, takes a deep sigh, leaves his drink and goes back inside to his laptop knowing he still has work to do.

I agree with this, but I think they also know if hes going to be on the team opening night this year. His commitment may be let’s see how it goes till the deadline but I don’t buy the front office has no idea if hes going to demand out before this upcoming season starts.

I'll judge Giannis based on his actions rather than his words. He's signed three separate extensions to stay here and only expects Milwaukee to remain aggressive in staying competitive.

I think he just likes trolling.

His answer could have been "wow the Bucks just got Myles Turner."

Seems plausible he's keeping pressure on Horst to do a follow up move.

at this point i accept hes never going to say...im a buck for life. if im horst i wouldnt even want him to. its not in our best interest

i also recognize that every year that goes by he becomes less likely to leave. i think if he inks again it will never be discussed again. if he leaves at the end of that one its gonna be like when moncrief left. if we trade him at the end of that one it will be for the same reasons as big dog.

Sigh.

Appearing on Thursday’s episode of Get Up, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explained at least five or six teams are “banking on” Antetokounmpo’s recent comments saying “we’ll see” about his future as being an opening for them to strike: “The thing about it is, is he didn’t give a definitive answer. And I’m certainly not going to analyze something he said seaside in Greece but what I will say is the ‘we’ll see,’ that is essentially what there’s about five or six NBA teams banking on, the ‘we’ll see.’ And I know it sounds trivial but for years Giannis was completely locked in. Him saying ‘we’ll see’ backs up what Shams has been saying this entire summer, which is that he might be more open-minded than he was in the past. And I would say the same thing, ‘Probably Milwaukee, but we’ll see.’ And now I can quote Giannis on that, thank you very much.”

Pretty impressive how they can lock on to this and completely ignore the multiple invites to Milwaukee Giannis gave to that streamer kid. Next level hating right there.

Can't even be mad at this point. This type of discourse will eventually be the downfall of ESPN/NBA partnership. Hopefully we get better coverage when Amazon and NBC start up.
